Travel from Santo Domingo to El Cedro

Does anyone know about how long it takes to travel from Santo Domingo to El Cedro? How about from El Cedro to Samana via the ferry?

We would like to explore somewhere in the DR with few tourists - somewhere quiet. Does El Cedro / Playa Limon fit this description? Would you recommend these places?
