Hola Folks!

I'll be heading down to Las Terrenas for the first week of Feburary with 4 of my amigos to celebrate my 40th B-day. Yes we are leaving the wives @ home for this trip.

We are looking at playing Golf, which I heard the best place "Close" is Playa Grande Golf which is 1 1/2hr away. Would it be cheaper just to rent a Jeep for a day or use taxis for this given that we will be treated as Gringos. Though through the 5 of us I think we speak 7 languages.

Do they actually rent Jeeps by the day? Or must we rent them for a few days at a time sort of deal. Does anyone have concrete information as to who and how much these rentals are.

We are also interested in going to El Limon falls, can this be accessed by 4X4 ATVs? Or strickly by horseback? We are more of the motorized type of folks.

We have decided to stay at a place called Las Palmas Residence which apparently is in walking distance of the Town (Clubs, bars, Casino, etc...) Have heard different things about the place but all in all it seems decent for a bunch of guys anyhow. But if anyone has information about this place, please let me know as any info is good. We did look at villas but nothing seemed to suit 5 single guys kind of style. I mean I love these guys but not in the "Hey look, we get to bunk together" kinda way...

Is anyone able as well to help me figure out the cost of food and drinks in LT? Do they sell liquor in the supermarket or in liquor stores (Sorry for the ingnorance) For example, if I were to purchase a bottel fo Vodka, what would the rough price be? And is it cheaper to buy food in the Supermarket to prepare or is it cheaper to eat out (I am a fond believer in helping the local economy by eating out, but if it's drastically cheaper for me to buy a steak and cook it myself, then so be it)

Now as for beaches and fun places... I have heard that some beaches are horrible in that area (Maybe right in the town area), but what is renowned as the best beach for more single folks and party style crowd.. Not over the top party but festive and full of life kind of atmosphere?

If anyone is willing to hang out as well during that time and show us around we're kind of okay with that as well, nothing like knowing a local to help you get around and show you the hot spots and really get a feeling of the real Las Terrenas night life and social life.

Anyhow, I am sure I am forgetting a bunch of questions at this point, but I think I already made this thread long enough.

Thank you in advance for any information you folks can give me to make that week an unforgettable week!

Cheers!

El Limon is only on foot or on horseback. Four wheeler rentals are all over LT for around $40-$55 each for a day.

Food is average priced. Restaurants will run you about $12-$15 for pizza and 2-3 beers.

Supermarkets all sell alcohol as well as numerous other places. Prices are a little bit cheaper than in, say, the States. Vodka should be $15-$20 US.

All the beaches in the area are pretty awesome. Don't know about partying on the beach but there are beautiful beaches with nice "scenery".

If you want to enjoy your day golfing I would recommend setting up something in advance instead of renting a jeep. The driving down here is not fun. Plus you might miss out on some of the cool things that are available in the Playa Grande area if you don't know where you are going. God forbid you would have to drive at night by the time you got done golfing, add some beers or vodka to your golf trip and why would you ever want to drive down here to save even $35 a person.

Set up a taxi or tour guide ahead of time so that you know you are getting a decent price.

I have a price list for the golf course in Playa Grande by the way:
18 holes $100
09 holes $ 55

Walking:
18 holes $65
09 holes $35

Club rental:
18 holes $15
09 holes $10

There is a dress code: no tanks, jeans or cutoffs.

Caddies are mandatory:
18 holes $20
09 holes $12

Don't forget the 16% sales tax for all service industry areas, so add that to each of those prices I just gave you.

Hope this is helpful. Any other questions you can message me. I'm not much help on the nightlife but anything during the day and I'm always available.
