I live fairly close to Av. JFK but do not know where Av. Republica de Colombia is. (I also tried to find it on a map)

If you could give me an idea of where it is i'll try to take some pics and send them to you...

Or if you know the name of the barrio that would help too.

Los Jardines .... what type of neighbourhood is it? Many thanks

When in Santo Domingo I live in Jardines del Norte (Calle Azucena) and I like the neighborhood. I believe the neighborhood across Colombia from the park is La Esperanza or Los Rios. I've been on those streets and the ones closer to the park seem to have upper middle class to wealthy class dwellings. I can't tell you any more than that.

Google screen shot

Av. JFK is close to the bottom of the screen. Av. Jardines de Fountainbleu border the West and Av. de Los Proceres borders the N, NE side of Los Jardines.

The circular interchange near the NW corner is where the Av. Republica de Colombia starts.

I'm told that it was more middle class "back in the day", with trending towards working class.

The area you're referring to is a mixed bag, (like pretty much most areas in SD) there are different parts to it, and different demographics within it too. You'd have to be specific about which street/part to get a decent gauge on it. I have some friends who live in a nice area there.

FYI, Republica de Colombia does not run through this area, the street name changes to Jardines de Fontainbleau at the bottom left corner of the park which then runs into JFK at the bottom.

It is a mixed area like the previous poster said. There are clusters of middle class houses and a a block or 2 over is a typical urban poor barrio.
