Hello.

Does anyone have information on obtaining a student visa for a U.S. citizen visiting the DR for one (1) academic year, possibly longer? The DR consulate in the U.S. is nonresponsive, either via phone or email. Naturally, all of this student's paperwork (i.e., passport, proof of enrollment at U.S. university, certificate of good conduct, and statement of good health) is already in order or can be obtained without delay.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I am not sure that one is really needed unless you are from a place (one of the few faraway places) that the DR requires to have a vist to be ehre.

If you are from the states, you just come and sign up for classes and Bingo....there you are...no problems, are there???

Anyone have a much different take on this??

This is for a student from the U.S. who is enrolled in a U.S. university, and not planning to attend a university in the Dominican Republic.

Sorry, you say you will not be attending a university in the Dominican Republic?

If that's the case whether you are a student in the US or a regular visitor you'll just pay a small fee on your way out just like windeguy mentioned.

Don't need a visa all you need is the tourist card and if it's not included in your airfare you can purchase one at the airport when you land in the DR
