ABC, the influential Spanish newspaper, tells the truth on Dominican Republic's quick response to help Haiti.

Manuel M. Cascante writes from Port au Prince: "The Dominican Republic aid to its neighbor Haiti was immediate, decisive. Unfortunately, CNN was not there yet to tell the world. More than 1,200 men and women, tons of aid, and above all direct action on ground..."

An NBC journalist the day after the quake did make note of the immediate response of the Dominican government, to be followed by the traditional solidarity of the Dominican people.

Thanks for posting this. I have seen little here stateside that even references the DR or acknowledges their help.
The US government has said that they don't want Haitian refugees to come to the US--wouldn't it make sense that they would try the DR first?
Kudos to the DR-and those groups in the DR making trips of whatever size to help a neighbor in need.
