I'd use Cabarete as a home base. Maybe do a 2 dayer to Las Terrenas. Its beautiful there. Rent a room in Sosua for a night....30 to 40 dollars and enjoy yourself with a chica. Don't bring any valuables and just enough money food, drinks, the hotel and your girl.. But, watch out for the pick pocket chicas and the tigres that will try and sell you anything. The police there are not the most honest bunch either.Next day..back to cabaret.
Blackbeards is great but can be pricey when you add it all up but is an oasis with no real safety issues.
I think I have seen two police here in Cabarete in the last 7 weeks....VERY safe !
