Aventura

I received a flyer for the Aventura concert and read that it was being held at the Polideportivo, or something like that. The stadium behind the one police station... Anyways, I was also told that its 500 RD admission, just like Anthony Santos' concert was. Hope that helps...

what of jazz? "base" music or "good" music? (no pun intended w/ "base")

"This is the reason bachata is so famous in italy, germany and the rest of the western world where folks are married to dominicans. Funny bachata is never played in classy places in santiago and in capital. Many dominicans don't even know how to dance well to bachata music in santiago. The dom yorks love bachata because the majority of them are from guettos in DR. "

I would differ from your attitude; and certainly disagree with you logic and conclusions. Remember, many "music", as art forms, have "progressed", evolved, and "changed" from one to another. e.g. USA blues, jazz evolving in some parts to R&B, rock & roll......one form was once considered "base" and "uncultured" (this of course depended on who was "considering").

This same "base" music, once it became "popular", became "accepted", and eventually the mainstain of the culture. Even, in fact, further evolving to many other "blends" and cultures of muci.

By your loogic, and presumably your thinking and "taste" then the best misuc (best= purest) would remain "clasical"? If that is your yardstick?

I am sure that you get my point by now.

I have come to enjoy bachata music. I also enjoy the "clasics" and other music genre, as defined and classified by folks like you. Matters not the clasification; matters more ones taste (if qcauired, then this is indeed a good thing to be able to adapt)

more to come

Aventura Concert

The concert is Dec 25 with a posted start time of 7 pm. Well we won't believe that last part.

It is just behind the police station, open air. There are 3 bands playing.

Last year there was 2 bands. The opening act played 2 good sets and then Aventura played one set only about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The cost for general admission was 200 pesos and VIP seating was 600 Pesos. Having paid for general adm last year I highly recommend VIP if you can afford it. I expect prices will be similar this year. VIP meant you got a chair and didn't have to stand around. WHen you wanted todance there was lots of room. However teenie bobbers don't pay 600 pesos, they stand by the fence as close as they can get and scream and carry on. NO thanks. I am getting VIP and enjoying the concert!

I will be there, who else wants to join me???? As soon as I find out where to buy advance tickets I will post info.

When was the last time you saw a german man or woman take home a domincian who was university graduate and lived in a decent neighborhood in DR, owned a car and held a nice job? I can say this about 95% of tourists from all over the world.
The truth is tourists (including germans) socialize with chopos in DR and thus take back home the chopo culture of this island. This is the reason bachata is so famous in italy, germany and the rest of the western world where folks are married to dominicans. Funny bachata is never played in classy places in santiago and in capital. Many dominicans don't even know how to dance well to bachata music in santiago. The dom yorks love bachata because the majority of them are from guettos in DR. The better class dominicans don't prefer to leave DR to live anywhere else. For this reson alone "krisspy" and other cheap chopo musicians ex: anthony santos, zakaria ferreras, luis vargas etc play full house in NYC and boston and charge as much as 100 dollars entrance. These same people can't even fill a 300 people club in santiago even if the tickets were given out for free. I don't mean a car wash or andy's ranch (typical chopos hang outs) I am talking about casinos, francifol cafe or tribecca etc. I was given free tickets to see villalona and the whole place was empty (even with free tickets). Krisspy plays carwashes everyday in DR. Aventura are famous at the moment but only among the chopos.
Enough said. Enjoy your chopo music.

Apparently the place was not completely empty, since AZB showed up! :speechles You have aroused my curiosity. What would you consider classy music that "real Dominicans" listen to? Who's CD is playing in the AZB-mobile right now?

I am sorry I am a very laid back person, and I do not want to cause any problems in here.

But AZB...I find so many of your posts to be very prejudice, and quite rude. I don't know if you mean to, but I really find you come across as very arrogant, stuck - up and snobby. I am sorry..I feel bad, I am not saying this to be rude. But this is how you come across in all the posts i have read by you.

Always commenting on people's classes. Such class structures in socitey are exatcly what makes the world less of a good place! Such things as having more money and being part of a "higher class" does not make someone a better person. You will miss out a lot in life if you just choose your friends by what class they are in. A lot of the people you will be missing out on, are ones who have had hard lives, and have worked to get out of there, and these pleople who have to work harder for things, often appreciate the smaller things in life much more. Which is always a better way to live, appreciate everything around you! Enjoy every moment of life, and take nothing for granted!

Sure some people with more money and better oppportunities in life live like this. But not all. And it is very offensive to always be drawing attention to people's montary value, as a basis for their personal character!

I am not just talking about this one post by..I am taking about the posts I have read in general. Please do not take this to offense. Just maybe you should not be so concerened with trival things like that.
