Hi All,
So I am in need for a bank account that I can manage in the US but is also accessible to my grandmother in DR. I would need to have her caregiver withdraw, deposit and manage also from DR. Is there such bank?
Thanks.

Many DR banks allow you to view and "manage" accounts online, if by manage you mean view the account activity. If her caregiver needs to access the accounts here in the DR, set her up as being able to access the account. I believe that is possible. I have not used DR banks to pay accounts in the DR using on-line methods, but other people do that.

(FYI, None of them allow you to transfer money without a fee from the US to the DR or vice-versa. Any bank in the DR, no matter it's name operates under separate rules and regulations from banks in other countries. )

I would recommend Bank of America. You can withdraw money from Scotiabank atms here in the DR without fees.

Good suggestion. That just means the OP has to send an ATM card to the person withdrawing the money in the DR. No need for an account in the DR at all using your suggestion. That also avoids wire transfer fees to fund a DR account.

To the OP - if you use that method just make sure you don't send the ATM card and the PIN code in the same envelope.

Bank of America sounds like the best solution for you.

If you need bill paying ability in RD, then you'll need an RD bank with online capability... most, if not all, have that.

don't see how a bank of america account gives capacity to deposit money here in the DR?

You are correct MA, no bank does that. What works pretty well for the OP is that if you put your money into Bank of America in the US you can use your Bank of America ATM card in a Scotia Bank ATM in the DR without an additional charge from Scotia Bank to take out DR pesos (of course there will be some "hidden" fees in the exchange rate given when the DR pesos are dispensed).

MA go to free ATM at Scotia.... withdraw dinero...... do not pass GO, go directly to your RD banco and deposit same withdrawal....
Facil......... I cannot think of a better way.... but I miss a lot along life's highway.....

Unfortunately, you will NOT be able to "deposit or manage" any account from the DR and the US simultaniously. True BOA does not charge for ScotiaBank ATM withdrawls, but thats as far as it goes. Banco Popular is a Puerto Rican bank, and even Scotia Bank is in the US territories including PR and the VI, but you can't open an account in the DR or the territories and use it in both places. I've tried, and so I do as was already posted... Use BOA. Good Luck..
