Three years suspended for stealing an estimated 77 million Dominican pesos sounds like a real deterrent for others. Ok, he will be required to return the 77 million however what about all of the other money/ favors he was able to obtain by using said funds?
Laughable.

The one they're going after is Jean Alain, who is sinking deeper into the quicksand with each of these guilty pleas.

Jonathan Joel Rodríguez Imbert, former administrative director of the Attorney General's Office (PGR), admitted his guilt in the Medusa case and said that everything he did was on the instructions of the former attorney general of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez and Rafael Canó Sacco, former Chief of Staff of the Attorney General's Office, who is outside the country and is not involved in the case.
Upon admitting the facts before Judge Amauri Martínez, of the Third Investigative Court of the National District, he indicated that the details would be expanded in the substantive trial.
He explained that although he had been given the power to sign contracts, assignments, and other processes in the name of Jean Alain, everything he did was on the instructions of Rafael Canó and the former attorney because he did not have the power to make decisions, "since They had everything centralized and the other employees and even prosecutors can testify to that.”
“In the same way, they (Canó and Jean Alain Rodríguez) instructed me to meet with the contractors and food companies and collect the agreed percentage of the works and food and then deliver it to their offices or homes. While others delivered it directly to them. It was said that these funds were for training and expenses of the Renovación political movement,” he said.
Jonathan Joel Rodríguez Imbert also stated that Rafael Canó and Jean Alain Rodríguez gave him instructions to open and collect the information from the “bidding envelopes” and give it to the people they indicated so that they could benefit from bidding processes, “they used companies, such as Global Tours & Travel SRL and others that belonged to Mr. Alex Rojas, this person is extremely trusted by them.”
He also indicated that when they needed to purchase equipment, services, and other activities, they went to “him because they needed to do it quickly and they avoided going through the purchasing process, an example of this is the DNA equipment, party Christmas, airline tickets, inaugurations, among others.”
Likewise, he stated that Canó and Jean Alain Rodríguez sent him to meetings with contractors to be the channel between them.
“Although I had been given a power of attorney to sign by Jean Alain for contracts, assignments, and others within the Attorney General's Office, everything had to come under the instructions of Rafael Canó and Jean Alain Rodríguez. An example of this is the payments to the Fire Control System, which the document contains the signature of the former attorney, as well as the payment to premises that were purchased in the colonial zone, which I was opposed to and they even sought a power of attorney from the council. from the Public Ministry which ordered me to make the payment,” said the former administrator.

Meanwhile, her defense, lawyer Ingrid Hidalgo, said that she was making a “positive defense,” since they have not reached an agreement with the Public Ministry, although she does not rule out that in the substantive trial, they may reach an agreement with the accusing body. .
“We are one of those who understand that we do not like agreements, everyone who knows us knows that we like litigation, but there are times when agreements are needed, and this is one of them. The Attorney General's Office did not approach us, we approached the Attorney General's Office, voluntarily, freely, without any type of coercion,” he explained.
Likewise, he requested an order to open a trial so that in this process his client could undergo cross-examination, confrontation with Jean Alain Rodríguez y Canó, or “any part he wants to do.”

The Macarulla's got a contract worth US$ 21M most of which seems to have gone in their back pockets. The son is asked to pay back US$ 1M and give back an apartment, and the father isn't asked any questions. Seems like a nice deal to me.

I just can't believe the level of corruption in the last government. We all knew the government was corrupt, but when people start back-handing tens and tens of millions of dollars, it's eye-watering.

Have you ever looked into Felix's dealings? Talk about eye-watering.

Diandino as well. He owns Silver Sun Gallery, you know. Ever wonder how he ended up with that on a Govt. salary?
