Try monitoring you own electricity usage. Read your meter once a week and write down how much you are using. Compare it to your bill. Most homeswill use between 200-400 kw/hrs a month without air conditioning. I think a residential consumer will pay a little less than RD$3 kw/hr. This devaluation of the peso won't help. Your bill should be somewhere between $600 and $1200 pesos. Considering the power outages it should be less. Make sure no one has tapped into your line after your meter. Then you might have some ammunition when you confron the power company. A typical widnow air conditioner will consume 1000 watts or less and will cost you around RD$3 an hour to operate.
