Christian Vocabulary?

You're sure you know the meaning of "lambon" because CC is far from being an a$$kisser. ;)

It is pathetic how shamelessly certain people use Dominican insults to appear as Dominicans.

But it does show whom they associate with.

There are a lot on DR1 that have lived in the DR so their experiences say quite a bit.

In my many years here I have never seen CC disagree with Robert yet claims I do.

The fact is CC's acts up for the crowd to get likes 99% of the time.

The fact is CC has called me things much worse 10 times over.

If you were a person of principal you would speak up about personal criticisms regardless of who is doing the criticizing.

The both of you are as bad as each other, if one doesn't start the bitching the other will, and you're not innocent in it CHIP, I've seen you taunt CCCC the same way he does you (and yes he has a way with words), right out of the blue. So no one can speak out, you are both as bad as each other.

So with regards to principle if you wanna go down that path, when are you two gunna get a room and get this flirting over with.:speechles

Sure I can explain. Basically the colonial zone is a tourist bubble. Everything caters to the tourist. Want to eat - simple there's lots of american type places there. Want to shop? Sure no problem, everything is there in American inspired prices. Everyone is there catering to you the tourist and wants to treat you the tourist great. The tourist police are there in theory to make sure you don't get robbed etc.
That is simply not true. Most businesses in the Colonial Zone don't live off tourists at all. Its a regular neighborhood that simply happens to be the oldest part of town. Most people that live there and frequent the Colonial Zone could care less about the tourists.

If anything, local residents often complain of the "crime wave," particularly theft; of the homosexuals that have taken over the Duarte Park, of the noise from some of the nightclubs, etc. Normal neighborhood stuff.

Randall Bell said:
Which is why when he says "i don't see what the big deal is, SD is great", it's like going to time square and saying NYC is full of big billboards everywhere.

See what I mean?
No, I don't see what you mean. Times Square is actually overflowing with tourists and most businesses there live off the tourists, the complete opposite of the situation in the Colonial Zone or any sector of Santo Domingo, since no area of the city actually lives off of tourism alone or even mostly depends on tourism.

While we all know crime happens everywhere at least there are laws to some extent to protect. Here its what ever goes. The rich buy their way out and the poor just die trying. Sometimes I think the motto here is shoot first, ask questions later (if anyone is still alive to tell). It is sad when someone is afraid of helping a victim out fear of getting involved and then having to fear for their own life for getting involved or being dragged to the police station only to sit for hours until the mess is sorted out. Yes it happens all over but since I live here it is more relevant.

Estan loca???
My wife won't even let me go to the corner colmado unless I'm escorted by one of her grown kids (yes, I'm gringo). And makes me pull my arm onside the window when we're driving, for fear some motoconcho will rip the watch off my arm as he drives by. And this is not in the SD area, but Monte Christi/Dajabon....

in the hood i am from, jayz biggie smalls, mop, aye z, 50 cent, and numerous rappers, drug dealers and gang bangers have seen the same thing you see in santo domingo. i personally have been shot at, shot, robbed, attempted to be robbed, i mean everything you said happens here. it is a black latino neighborhoood in one of the worst parts of nyc. the racist white police dont do anything to protect us and we all have to run with guns and bullet proof vests and make ties with gangs and criminals to be safe. i just dont know if santo domingo compares to where i came from. i know it is dangeorus but i dont know if it compares. listen to the rapper 50 cent's music, he spent a lot of time in the hood i am from.

What part of NYC are you from? When you get a chance can you explain what you mean by

1. The racist white police don't do anything to protect us?

2. Making ties with gangs and CRIMINALS to be safe.

Please tell what is your ethnic background PLEASE I have to know. In another post you said something I have NEVER heard on the streets or reading an article anywhere about people from the streets quote:" back in MY GHETTO" are you black or latino?

In the DR,it doesn't matter where you live, "Go",or "Don't Go",crime will find you,you don't have to find it!
The "Good Neighborhoods",are next to "Barrios calientes",and visa versa!
Good Fences,Make Good Neighbors",but in the DR,those "Fences" better be 8 feet high, and topped with "Razor Wire",with "Rotties" waiting for "Visitors" on the inside
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
I'll be in Boston tomorow,so I can leave the doors unlocked,or even open if it's,"Nice Out"!

Since I have been here 20 + years I have seen or heard about crime in the worst neighborhoods and YES in the so called upper class neighborhoods. Crime here has no boundaries. I have always said you have to be smart about how you live your life, ie: who you associate with and how you carry yourself.

My ethnicity is non white. I am a complexion like many of the dr people of black people. I am mixed. The blacks and latinos in the usa are persecuted against and bonded in many cases. especially black, dr and pr peoples. I dont want to put this off subject. but the corrupt cops in nyc have been caught many times to be racists who want to put blacks and latinos in jail who are innocent. they stay out of the neighborhood. gangs and drug dealers pay them off. people wait on block corners and streets and signal when they are coming and going.

the mindset of a young black or latino in the usa with no job, education, money or hope. it just as dangerous as any ladron or delincuente in the dr. it is the exact same mindset. they do not care and will do anything anywhere at anytime. if anyone doublts the danger of a black or latino american ghetto in comparison to the dr, they are welcome to go into a ghetto unarmed but i would not recommend it at all.

now the dr, it is dangerous in all places at all times, i have learned a lot from this discussion.

I know Santo Domingo can be dangerous but I have to agree that a ghetto in NYC is equally dangerous if not more so. Reading some of these posts make SD sound like a war zone. Perhaps I've just been lucky but I feel safe for the most part in SD. I don't wear jewelry and flash money around. Being from NYC I tend to walk fast and with a purpose. I have no problems taking the guaguas. It seems to be dangerous to take guaguas at night in some neighborhoods. I'll avoid finding out.

just a short note on my recent approach to the cellphone thieves I have encountered lately.
I purchased a couple of belt cellphone holders, rigged them with razor blades on all sides, used a small block of wood inside to hold them, and they protruded about 1/2 inch all around.
Lo and behold,I was walking up 18 de marzo,in the late morning,a pasola came by,with a girl on back, she got off, grabbed the case.....and all I heard was the loudest scream, and blood trail all the way up the hill!!!Still have the case, and just waiting for the next one!!!hope she lost all her fingers.I would like to figure out a cellphone with explosives next....................
