Flew into YYZ Thursday and out Saturday AM (today)
Having read the horror stories about the lines - I was terrified.
I was flying Air Canada..... they fly6 to the DR .... I expect the WestJet terminal is a bit messed up too.
Thurs nite 6pm arrival - Immigration hall was EMPTY!!!.... literally we were the only flight !!
Whew!
AC sent a text out Friday alerting all 'pre-9am' US passengers to be early.
My flight was 8:30am
4am alarm... 4:40... McD egg/bacon McMuffin and iced coffee.... 24 hr service !
There was line !! Not a good sign !??
Airport at 5:10am or so....
B/C the Cdn airlines don't recognize out of country QR codes - I can't get a boarding pass online.
See an agent !
First agent sent me 1/2 mile to the 'human' check-in (not kiosk)..... #11
HUGE line ! But before I entered it - I took one last stab at another agent....
Piece of cake!..... easy peasy..... not all airport staff is fully trained yet, they say in the papers.
NEXUS line was short.... in just after 5:30am or so.
Not that many people.... for a normal time ---- factor in 5am and that's a bunch.
Another traveler told me at 5 it was almost empty.... by 5:20 or so.....plenty.
The bars are doing a crappy business - travelers are too late to stop in.
For the 9:25am flight to POP.....I would expect more people... so prepare
W/O NEXUS - could be a problem.
