The Ministry of Public Health’s Epidemiology Department Coronavirus Bulletin #300 reports 1,595 new PCR cases for the Tuesday, 12 January 2021 deadline. The 7-day nationwide average for PCR confirmed cases is 1,429, up from the previous 7-day average of 1,277.
Labs carried out a new record 8,028 first PCR tests, a new record in cases and much more than the 14-day average that is a low 4,286. The country can process 14,000 PCR tests a day. Nevertheless, private lab capacity is pressed by the increased demand for tests from the public.
The 4-week positivity rate is 20.43%, continuing the upward trend. The 24-hour positivity for the day 19.87%, significantly lower than the 27.56% on the previous day. The number of reported active cases is now 43,738, up from the previous day.
