The Ministry of Public Health’s Epidemiology Department Coronavirus Bulletin #303 reports 2,370 new PCR cases for the Friday, 15 January 2021 deadline, a new one-day high. This compares to the 7-day nationwide average for PCR confirmed cases that is 1,528. The past seven days have been a record week since the start of the new administration in August 2020.

Labs carried out 8,670 first PCR tests, a record high for this administration. The number of tests compares with the 14-day average, a low 4,917. The country can process 14,000 PCR tests a day. The government says sufficient PCR tests are available. Nevertheless, private lab capacity is pressed by the increased demand for tests from the public.

The 4-week positivity rate is 21.82%, continuing the upward trend reflecting the increase in cases following the Christmas holidays. The 24-hour positivity for the day is 27.34%...
