Political parties have signed 470 alliances for the municipal elections set for 18 February 2024, a record in the country. The complex coalitions resulted in the Central Electoral Board (JCE) granting a deadline until Friday, 17 November at 8pm for parties to make amendments, objections or corrections to their agreements.
Furthermore, the JCE complied with the political parties’ request or an extension.
The JCE agreed with the political parties and set midnight 24 November 2023 as the new deadline for presenting the alliances for the municipal; elections.
The deadline for presenting candidates and alliances for the 19 May 2024 presidential and congressional elections is still 4 March 2024.
