Dominican Republic’s Olympic gold medallist Marileidy Paulino won the Athlos 400m race on Thursday, 26 September 2024 at the Icahn Stadium in New York City, clinching US$60,000, the highest single award in the track and field world. For Paulino the race was the crown of a year in which she won all nine final races, including the Diamond League and the Olympic Games. For women athletics, the event was a major success, combining entertainment with the showing of major athletic prowess.
Marileidy Paulino finished her race in 49.59. Second place went to Alexis Holmes of the USA with 49.99 and third place to Salwa Eid Naser, who is trained by Dominican coach Jose Ludwig Rubio.
