Adriano Espaillat (Democrat-NY) will head the Hispanic Caucus in the 119th Congress that is scheduled to reconvene on 3 January 2025. On the agenda of the caucus will be immigration issues and protection of immigrants.

Espaillat was born in Santiago de los Caballeros in 1954 but has spent the vast majority of his life in New York City, becoming the principal voice of Dominicans in the Big Apple.

There are 43 members of the House of Representatives that belong to the Hispanic Caucus, a record number. They are all members of the Democrat Party, thus composing 20% of the total seats belonging to the party in the House of Representatives where they are in the minority after the sweeping victory by the Republican Party in the 5 November 2024.
