The director general of the Tax Agency (DGII), Luis Valdez, says that around 900,000 citizens have already renewed their vehicle driving permits (marbetes), representing 52% of the registered population, N Digital reports.

Valdez says the bad habit of leaving the renewal for last minute still prevails, and people then complain of inconveniences and long lines at renewal centers.

“Citizens tend to leave the marbete renewal for the last minute, which then causes problems because they all flock to the institutions at the last hour and then blame the institution,” he stated, urging the public to complete the process in advance.

The renewal process began on 22 October 2024 and concludes on 31 January 2025.
