Two cruise ships docked at the same time on Friday, 28 November 2025 at the country’s newest maritime port, the Cabo Rojo terminal in southwestern Pedernales. The Abinader administration has opened the pristine beach area to mass tourism, and the arrival of cruise ship passengers is a first step as the construction of the airport advances.

The Aida Sol (Aida Cruises/ Carnival Corporation) and the Brilliance of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), mark the first time two cruise liners have docked together since the terminal’s inauguration. The ships collectively disembarked 4,679 passengers, who are set to explore the beach, ecological and community offerings of the region.

The AIDAsol can carry around 2,192 passengers; the Brilliance of the Seas carries up to 2,543 passengers.

President Abinader celebrated the milestone on his X account, declaring it a “historic day for Pedernales.”
