On both sides of Nunez de Caceres, between Gustavo Mejia Ricart and 27 de Febrero, Privada (Teodoro Chasseriau) and Defillo. West of Nunez de Caceres is Millon I (the best part) and east of Nunez de Caceres is Millon II (has somewhat lesser parts). Millon I is mostly houses, Millon II has many (4 story) buildings.

It is a pretty good area to live. We have been living in El Millon for awhile and I can't complain other than the traffic on Nunez....but traffic is everywhere.

There are many new constructions in El Millon, so maybe in next 10 years it will become a decent middle class area, but not now for sure. Still too much ghetto crap there.

From Privada until at least Winston Arnaud it's fine. I would say even until Defillo. It get's worse after that, but that's Ensanche Quisqueya, I think, and definitely not all streets.

Yes, some streets look fine in areas like El Millon or Evaristo Morales, but anyway it's not good to have a ghetto just 2 blocks from your house or the next street. And it's not good to drive thru a ghetto on your way from home to the nearest supermarket.

True, but that's the case in almost all neighborhoods of Santo Domingo, maybe with the exception of los Cacicazgos. And beside that, I wouldn't call the areas near Millon that are not that good ghetto's, it's not like Ensanche la Fe or Villa Consuelo.

Av. Enriquillo, calle Hateuy, and the other streets there with Indian names, basically everything between hotel Dominican Fiesta and Privada. And no barrios close.

Well maintained green areas, no holes in the pavement, garbage collected regularly, etc.

Yes, I agree, that area is good, but not too different from other so–called "good" areas (since there are no really good areas in DR). The problem is that it's not central location at all, driving from Los Cacicazgos to Naco or Piantini is a pain in the ass. Even El Millon is much closer.

I used to live in av. enriquillo when they were building the tunnels below Nunez de Caceres and below Carmen Mendoza / Defillo. It would take me 45 mins to get to the city center, now it's a lot better and when they'll finally strt the tunnels below Privada and Caonabo, going to Naco should be 5-10 mins from los Cacicazgos. Better than up north in Arroyo Hondo.

Ghetto's...I would say that is incorrect. As Mauricio has pointed out almost every neighborhood in Santo Domingo has certain areas that are not so great. El Millon is a definitely a decent if not better area to live in especially cost wise.

Ghetto, I don't think so. I guess you have never been to a real ghetto.
Why do you have such a downer on the DR?

You can do a lot worse than living in El Millon.

Of course it's better than Capotillo.

You know, I think you are right when you say it's a middle class area... but not a DECENT middle class area, like you said... just a DOMINICAN middle class area.

Why do you have such a downer on the DR?
Maybe because I am not selling DR Paradise to foreigners?
