Hi do you all know of any hotels on Malecon? I'm looking for something right next to the beach, hopefully something near Fray Anton de Montesinos.

It doesn't have to be a 4 star hotel, I'd even take a dump. I just want something right next to the water for at least 2 days. Not looking for anything expensive.

I'd appreciate any help, as I'm looking to book soon.

Thanks!

There's only one small beach along the Santo Domingo malecon - Guibia. Or did you mean you just want to see the water/walk along the malecon?

There is no beach as such ( ok I accept what AE says!)

All the portals have maps locating the hotels......try booking.com and decide

I guess more so near the water. Like in the pics I posted. I just saw the pics of the area on tripadvisor, but I dont know the actual area, never been to Malecon, only Colonial Zone, but this vacation I want to do different areas of SD and pretty much have my hotels everywhere except near this area. But basically near the area of the pics I posted, if you can tell those areas.

Yeah but from my understanding there are some across from the water, but many hotels listed online near the area are actually kinda far and I don;t want to do a long walk since I am not familiar with the area, nor do I speak Spanish to ask for directions.

The photos you posted are all at the eastern end of the malecon, LOTS of hotels down there, cheap ones and expensive ones. This is just west of the Zona Colonial. The small beach I mentioned is in the same area.

Your last photo looks like the new "Crowne Plaza" formerly the Intercontinental.... The building in "yellow". I could be wrong but it looks like the hotel.

Google the Santo Domingo map and zoom in onto the Malecon near the beach AE mentioned and all the hotels come up and then you can go to the portals and trip advisor

Thank you, if I were to look online what area of malecon would I search for which is near the statue area? Right now when I type in "Malecon", hotels in Boca Chica and outside areas are showing up and I already have a hotel for when I am in Boca Chicha and know that Malecon isnt that close to Boca Chica. Since there's no specific address typing in "hotels in malecon" are giving me results from all over the place.

What area should I type in?

I know for example when I was in Colonial Zone I stayed on Calle Arzobispo Nouel, so I would know to search for that area, but this area I showed pics for I dont know what to search for. I'd appreciate some help

Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, Jaragua, and Hilton are all luxury hotels directly on the malecon. There are many smaller hotels as well...just use booking.com or one of the other large sites, put in Santo Doming and your dates, then click on "Map view" all available hotels along the Malecon will show up...click on each one for price and details.

The Malecon is nice, breeze is good, and the view is great...just DON'T swim in the water!

if you punch in colonial zone ...it is within walking distance of the beach your talking about playita montessino ...I think is the name of this small beach...I have seen lots of people swim there over the last number of years...I will say ...some days are cleaner than others .....but overall it is not bad and there are some bed and breakfast places very close to this area ....even hotel discovery near parquet independencia would be a short ten minute stroll

I would suggest you find on airbnb.com and they would be cheaper than going to a hotel and you would get everything you need.

Sad to say that there is no beach in Santo Domingo. Depending upon the tide, the water by the Malecon is often filled with garbage. The fact that you would even "take a dump" of a property is probably the reason why- it's all about supply and demand. Those of us who live and invest in this country want tourists with higher expectations - perhaps San Juan would be a better choice for you.

That is the Shorefront Boulevard(AKA Malecon) The beach in the one photo is not really habitable. If you want a hotel you have a choice of the big 3 V Centenario, Sheraqton, and the newly refurbished and reopened Renaissance Jaragua. All in the $125.00 per night range. Have a great trip.!
