I am "sure" they plan to have security no matter where they are located, but this area may or may not directly across from La Union. Criminals don't need to live directly across from where they rob. Frequently they don't.

So true windeguy, thieves often commute to "work".
But seems the thieves in DR also forget to follow the old rule of "Don't sh*t where you eat".

I've come to know a lot of good people (with jobs) who live in La Union and are not thieves.

This is a lot more than a hotel if all of it gets built. And that is a HUGE IF in the DR. As for buying in during pre-construction, good luck on that.

Just a few quick notes;

The land is owned by the bank (government)  and its been a hassle but close
My freind is working on the golf course, will be done in stages (9 then 18 si dos quire)
On the main road is planning a miniature golf and play area with a large waterfall
Some of the big names have committed (for the shopping area), you’ll be impressed
President has given the thumbs up
I’ve reserved a villa (really)

life is an adventure …..

Just hope it does not turn into another Punta Goleta like project in Cabarete, or the Miracle Mile in Cabarete, or what is now Lifetstyles in Cabarete.

What was originally being sold for Punta Goleta part of Cabarete was something very similar, condos, villas, shopping, theater, (but no golf course like Dream City, which is normally a money losing scheme.)

The Miracle Mile was proof that miracles don't really happen and Lifestyles has some on going situations with potential land ownership.

Lifestyles really doesn't have a horse in this race. They didn't buy the property and any future ownership problems are not their concern. Lifestyles is being paid to advance the construction by way of their local influence and will make money running the completed facilities and make even more money with another outlet to sell memberships. Cabarete is basically a means to fulfill the vacation requests of those wishing to come to the DR that they cannot accommodate now.

About all Lifestyles could lose in a property ownership dispute that sees the Cabarete propriety being seized or transferred to someone else would be the loss of time and effort to date and the loss of the additional income stream. It's a very clever business model for an entity that provides facilities to visitors but actually owns none of the physical infrastructure that they provide. The Club is in this way insulated from many of the real estate pitfalls and property ownership uncertainties that plague this country.

Where in Cabarete is Miracle Mile?

The project has a tag line 'affordable paradise' because it's affordable for different groups of buyers. There will be 4 different types of residential properties (4 subprojects if you want) to fit a wide variety of budgets and tastes both local and international. It's affordable for foreigners because the prices are about a 1/3 of U.S. prices. And it's affordable for locals too because there will be the subproject Green Dolphin apartments where the prices start at 2 million pesos. The idea is far from not letting the natives live there, on the contrary, the first construction phase will include the affordable housing for Dominicans so the local community can get their own home.

The Miracle Mile was a proposed development several years ago on the way to La Boca along that strip of ocean between the northeast corner of Jardin Deportivo and La Boca in Cabarete.

Some important update being posted today on the official website regarding the general strategy of Dream City. You might want to know that

the first stage of the sales pilot was so successful that it came to the attention of the Central Bank who currently owns the titles to this land. Although the buyers placed their downpayments in an escrow account which they don’t control, the Central Bank asked to hold off on sales until the land contract is completed with them, which is expected to occur in April.

We are currently refocusing our energy and marketing efforts internationally. Dream City is now establishing an international network of realtors to sell our properties. At this time we have estimated that all 3,000 units will all be sold within 3 years.

Would you please keep us informed as to the progress of Dream City? Also, would it be possible for you to post up a tentative construction schedule for the project?

Rebel, they’d need an ad to do that.  I presume it’s all on their website.

There is no nirvana on earth (or anywhere else for that matter.)

Met a fellow at Pappaterra in Sosua today who is working on Dream City and is charged with attracting a major vendor, like a Plaza Lama, to build a store in Dream City. I recommended a WalMart and a Trader Joe's. He was from California, so he knew what I meant by Trader Joe's.
