I can feel the lady's story is real just by the fact she was left spinning her wheels for months on end going through the insanity of this Fiscalia-"Ministerio Publico". I can tell you as a fact that I went through the same process as she did with a criminal death threat. Complete runaround game that leads to nowhere and lets criminals easily walk. Fortunately, in my own case, no one has been harmed yet, but these coordinators in these offices are like air traffic controllers or pilots abrogating their responsibilities thereby putting lives potentially in danger. Their conciliatory stage fake judge nonsense does not conform with Articles 259, 260 nor 261 of the codigo procesal penal.

"El procedimiento penal dominicano registra cinco etapas. La preparatoria, preliminar, juicio oral, fase recursiva y fase de ejecución de la penal. No existe la fase conciliatoria."

Why should they have done that? There isn't much the U.S. Embassy can do other than make some phone calls to corrupted coordinators in the Fiscalia and other corrupted lawyers-LOL.

Nope, that is the first stop for most people and where they are referred when elsewhere, especially if they are not experienced travelers.

This is Jussie Smollet stuff

So you go to them and get a list of local attorneys that will charge an arm & a leg to do a criminal case. Imagine that-you were just victimized by a crime and now to prosecute will cost the sum of a new car or whatever-LOL.

You go through that you just want to heal up and get the hell back home. If it were planned out the Hubby would have given her a love tap black eye and she could have walked outside and pretended to be KO'ed.

I don't know.

First true statement you have made on this whole thread ..

and why in the world are you giving dislikes to Posters who merely post a Google Translation of an article ??
that makes even less sense than your posts .

According to the article I just posted: Pero después de una investigación de tres meses y un intento fallido de negociar un acuerdo extrajudicial, la compañía de seguros del hotel le envió una carta diciendo que Majestic Elegance no tenía ninguna responsabilidad ya que no podía identificar a su agresor como empleado.

Which means for the non Spanish speakers, "After a three month investigation and a failed attempt to negotiate an out of court settlement, the hotel's insurance company sent them a letter saying that the Majestic Elegance did not accept any responsibility as they were unable to identify her attacker as an employee."

Ignore these Trolls on here. They have no idea how things work. Most of them do not have even an iota of an idea how it works here.

1.) Why would you go to the embassy when A.) your sitting in the hospital for days, and B.) the police and so-called detectives came to the hospital and took down her story and no doubt re-assured her that they are working on her case.

2.) How could she--or any other tourists--know that it does not work like it does in the USA where you have Forensic detectives and specialists sent to the crime scene where they dust, collect, and scan for forensic evidence.

3.) Anyone in her shoes would be thinking, "Thank god the police and authorities are on it!" At this point, you only want to get the hell out of here and go home and let the police, detectives, forensic specialists & prosecutors do their work.

4.) After you see that the police and investigators are on it, no one is thinking, "I want to go to the US embassy and stand in a long line from hell, wait for who knows how long to talk to someone, and wait to hear what they can or cannot do for your situation, etc.

5.) How can any tourists know how inept the investigations & forensic team are here? They only know how it works in their own country.

In 2008 i was arrested with four other Dominican men for a murder of a girl. When the investigation team brought me in for questioning, they asked me good questions. They wanted to know every detail of my whereabouts on the day of the murder (4-days earlier). So far, so good. But they never checked me or the other four men for any evidence. They did not check us for fingerprints. They did not check us for blood splatter on our clothes or shoes, no DNA, no fingerprints, no footprints, or any other potential incriminating evidence that could link us to the crime..,not a request for even one single piece of evidence fro us...let that sink in.

When they told me i was a suspect, i said, "Sure no problem, but can i make a suggestion?" i asked.

"Sure, what is it?"

"You might want to have all the potential suspects disrobe and check for any scratches," I suggested.

"Why? they asked.

"Why!? Because, if the girl was stabbed to death--as you have already mentioned--then she would have tried to defend herself and she most likely would have scratched the culprit in the process, no?"

They just waved their hand and dismissed my suggestion altogether.

I asked the other suspects, "Were any of you guys asked to take your shirt off or made to show anything to the investigators?"

"No," they answered, wondering why?

No one seemed to understand why they would check for scratches and defensive wounds!!

"Did they check any of your clothes for blood?" I asked.

"No," they answered.

"Did any of the police come over to your houses and check for anything...shoes, clothes, knives, etc....anything at all!?"

"No."

So, right there, in a Dominican nutshell, you have the fabulous Dominican team of forensic specialists working on your behalf.

You dont even have to check for scratches on the Suspect if you had Fingernail scrapings ...
DNA does the rest ..

Myself and others already mentioned Rape kit, and fingernails . LONG ago in this thread.. and got RIDICULED by the " super Sleuths" , and now you come here and also ridicule the DOM Police ... why ? How do you know WHAT they did and did not do ?
How do you know they did not take THIS particular Case seriously, but just could not find ANY Evidence to corroborate the story ?

Do you think nothing has changed in 11 years, not to mention the difference between tiny Cabarette and big Punta Cana?

Yes, I would have thought so. I certainly would have hoped so. And i would have expected that 10+ years later, things would have advanced significantly, but you never know. Time will tell. All we can do is wait. I choose not to victimize the victim, which is what is going on here.

It's so much better to trash the police when you have NO IDEA what they did.

I have yet to see any real reporting on evidence that the police may have collected.

This is what web forums are all about, and always have been. It is a community communicating. Without this communication the web forum would cease to be. I find it amazing the number of people who are fond of suppressing free thought. For those who do not wish to participate, there are other avenues to pursue.

I dont agree with you if this was a free speech forum .. the mods would not deduct points from us.... so it's really not free speech.... if the mods dont like what we say we get penalize....its a regulated forum

Is the Victim any less of a Victim if the Husband did do it ?
when you say people are victimizing the Victim... show us in a flow chart exactly how that is ?
cuz I dont understand it ..

Now, IF there were a SUSPECT, (lets call him FAUSTO) and we said " she probably got drunk, dressed Trashy , led him on, even danced with him, then refused to sleep with him.. therefore its HER fault"
THEN you could say we are victimizing the Victim..

but based on the Preponderance of Evidence .. or LACK thereof .. no one is being Victimized by anyone on this thread, at this point in time ..

that is not opinion, that is just Fact ..

Correct me if I am wrong...you and your Arm Chair Conservative Internet Cowboys are Trolling and blaming the victim.

That's what you guys do---day in, and day out. "Trolling" is what Trolls are good at.

Nothing has been released to the public. We know the women was brutally beaten and found in the location she claimed. That is all we know.

Wow. I initially read about this online via the Apple News Feed (I believe the story was from USA Today). One look at the photo of the women and you knew a terrible act had occurred. I hope the person(s) who did this is brought to justice.

But it amazes me the amount of pure unadulterated speculation in this (now) 33 page thread. It looks like a core group of people are just going back and forth all day (and night) long. I won’t speculate on the case, but I do have a question.
Do any of you all day posters actually work for a living? I’m assuming your all retired and have the time available to speculate and post all day?

Out of curiosity, I did a quick scan at just today’s posts. I could have chosen any of 5-6 posters, but chose JD### because I believe I saw him post something about working with Blue Collar type guys (or something to that effect?) so I’m guessing he’s employed. But my tongue in cheek question is when does any actual work get done? Just today, a regular business day, Friday, he has posted in this thread at:
9:53am
10:20am
10:37am
10:47am
12:57pm
1:48pm
1:55pm
2:00pm
2:21pm
5:30pm.
And as I said, it looks like the same thing with several other posters. Nice to have time on your hands I guess?

As for me, I’m fortunate enough to be semi-retired. I still work part-time though. And when I’m at work, I actually work.

I hope the DR police forces put the same amount of effort into the investigation as the core group on here has put into speculating?
