I've heard the Bourbon Street won't have to move because it's a restaurant. Haven't been to Sosua at night in a long time, but I've been told it's packed with chicas and mongers in the evening.

If other places are able to duplicate what they're doing, I don't see much changing. That section of PC will still be a popular place to gather at night. Maybe later on, like after midnight, they might all drift down to the bars and clubs at the east end of PC(?).

Best if you go and see..

Although there's not really that much to see.

You guys are on the right track , and you may not even realize it ..
The Powers that be do NOT WANT IT TO WORK....they want the confrontation...they want the Bars to fall for this Joke, Move to the New Area... Shut down their original PC Downtown bars which have been in operation there for decades , and move to this new "sucker" area....where they can then DISMANTLE them completely and Legally .. using the Citizens who own Condos there as Pawns in their Final Battle ....
just my .02 but anyone who falls for this , is probably in for a rude awakening ..
like Andrew Dice Clay used to say " Look what I DID to you , again"

The plan that you wrote about in your post requires cunning, intelligence and forethought which is not the norm for the DR.

If and when the politician do move for the deathblow to DISMANTLE them completely they will resort to strong arm tactics the same that they have done in the past as they did with Peter and Armando.

Andrew Dice Clay???
Was he that unfunny character smoking cigarettes talking out of the corner of his mouth in a NY accent years and years ago?
I thought he died from old age by now.

Cannot say I would take ADC as a life lesson teacher but to each his own.

Conspiracy theorists suspect everyone. Even the bureaucrats are out to get you.
I doubt that the city has the brains to develop a clever insidious sneaky plan like you describe.
I suppose if you are paranoid it is possible.
Might as well be paranoid, its possible they could be after you.
After seeing the ineptitude of the management of Sousa its doubtful.

Anyone remember La Roca restaurant?
Had a great bbq on Friday nites.
An original historical building and a fixture in the early history of Sosua.
I like and respect history. While waiting for my meal I would browse the old pictures.
These dummies let it go vacant and burn down.
Then they tried to claim it was lightning struck the building, an act of god, to avoid blame.
That is what we are dealing with.
To put it plainly these fools do not have intellectual capacity to develop as insidious a plan as you suggest.

I doubt there is any plan other than to get the girls out of sight in any way possible, and AFAP.

I agree with all your suggestions except this one. It would be a complete waste of time and money.

The cops will do as they are told.
The problem is no one is telling them what to do so they go out and arrest working girls.
Wonder what the benefit is in that behavior?
What on earth could they be getting?

This was back in June. Some friends of mine were there. From what I've heard, Sosua is like a ghost town now, but it's always pretty dead in September and October. So's Cabarete.

Sosua was really busy this last Thr, Fri, Sat nights, most bars (and, ehem, restaurants) had good number of customers. Later on discos were also full, even after-hours playa Chiquita disco was totally packed at 4am.

You guys just keep to your keyboards and speculate, let the rest live their lives how they like it... ! lol

I'm not speculating at all. I said in my post that Bourbon street was very busy when my friends were here in June. Wrecksum was the one that said it's dead. Sept-Oct is usually "deader" than normal.

You're saying it's still packed thurs - sun. Like I said, if others are able to setup a Bourbon Street type operation, that strip of PC will sgtill be a gathering place and I don't see things changing much.

I can verify. The “Strip” on PC was crowded when I was there around 10pm on Saturday night.

Differing viewpoints or tales will all be moot once the municipal security camera systems are put in place. All will be able to see the comings and goings in real time with these 24/7 HD cameras which will be mounted, and can be viewed online, just as in other sectors of the nation.

I will just keep on seeing the action with my own eyes, that's how I enjoy it. Also it just wouldn't be the same without the odor of sewage after a rain or the smell of 99cent perfume in every bar and restaurant.
Hey they better connect generators to the cameras

That isn't going to happen until the town fills up with family tourists.

The future of Sosua…..
"He has been president of the Association of Hotels of Sosúa and Cabarete and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (ASONAHORES)."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Abinader

He was not, along with the now failed Thomas Cook business, able to revive what was to be called the Aldiana resort. Perhaps he could win the Presidency of the DR, but I doubt it.

Is he still involved in the above mentioned positions?

What was the issue there? Not enough money to do the project?
