is anyone else having difficulty maintaining a connection with yahoo messenger?

i've been unable to keep or even get connected for the last 2 days. msn messenger is working flawlessly. both are the latest versions.

yes but gaim works only with yahoo.com but not yahoo.ca accounts
You're being punished for being Canadian.
That'll teach ya.
BTW: I saw you signing in and out of MSN messenger. like a yoyo, today, maybe yesterday as well.
Any chance you have a general connection problem, not just with Yahoo?

i've been installing both xinxp and linux and rebooting a lot. my connection is fine, infact excellent so far. it was just a temporary yahoo glich i think. i've heard from many in north america that experienced it too.

I would not bet on that.
It is an old version and last I tried, 6 months ago, it was unusable.

I asked Yahoo for an up-to-date version, but never got a reply.

Instead I went to "amsn" (MSN only, sorry) and have been using that ever since.

I tried "Gaim", but too many functions were not available yet. Including web-cam. That was 4-5 months ago.

I have been a Linux user since 1992-3, when it became usuable with network drivers and X, using it exclusively since 1995-6.
I used Windows 9x / 2k etc. in VMWare and now QEmu.
Enjoying that the frequent Windows crashed only took down Windows and not all the other tasks I was working on. The Windows crashed were my main reason to switch to Linux.

It started as a "Slackware", but today it is more like an "Andyware" ;-)
