Seriously? There's 50,000 people in Sosua. If you can't see the middle class (or those struggling to get into it), I can't help you. But my statement is correct, there are more middle class Doms in Sosua then there were 20 - 30 years ago. And it is they that have been pushing for a different "atmosphere" in the downtown area - for quite awhile now. Those are just plain facts. You can make light of them, but they're indisputable.

Those citizens, along with certain real estate developments that are inevitable, are what will force changes on Sosua. It's going to happen.
There are those with limited focus who see a small section of Pedro Clisante as Sosua. They somehow miss the fact that there are 50,000 people that live there.

How many restaurants have already failed? I know of Sinatras and the Chinese place near Sunset Plaza.
Matteo's place is up for sale.

Any others throw in the towel?

Long before 2004 and In Search Of China’s website there were whoremongers from all over Europe enjoying the young ladies of Sosua. And of what I am told by some very long time expats some of those girls were very young. So, technology and Jetblue brought in a crowd that looked different than the European mongers. Then the extremely ugly Haitian putas arrived. So now that the African Americans have Arrived in numbers the racist culture rears it’s ugly head. So for all the Anti-American folks out there nothing is going to get better. Sosua will never have the beautiful prostitutes again. No more 500 peso salidas. No more Flamingos strip club. No more La Passions. Just spandex whores and Jetblue mongers. And of course when flights resume Canadians and Europeans.
Thank god they still regulated to dark end of town..

That goes for a lot of the tourists that travel there too. Only difference may be that they work “real jobs” (a modern day slave wastes 70% of their lives for the enjoyment of the shareholders) but they sure do share similarities in life’s desires.

I get the impression most of the folks here on DR1 do not follow any of the local north coast news sites on Facebook. If they did, they would have a better understanding of the middle-class folks who live in the Puerto Plata province and their opinions about the problems that they encounter.
Too many folks are blissfully ignorant of the issues those middle-class folks deal with on a daily basis.

Poor Jumbo,
Stay in the states and enjoy the sexual freedoms, just don't get caught as a John.

Long before 2004 there was quite a scene in ancient Europe.
Not so much happened in the great US of A at that time:(:ROFLMAO:

With enough money and savoir faire even a Jumbo can get some action.

Unfortunately in Alicia. Several time I saw these IDIOTS almost killed tourists and children in the very shallow water just 5-10 feet from the sand. Animals.
So you seen kids playing in Play Alicia in 5-10 feet of water With banana boat coming in....once again that’s Sosua beach your talking about...

Yes poor Lobo,
The pedo scene in Europe over the ages is well known. Unfortunately they brought it with them on vacation in the DR. It was so prolific that many Europeans took their pensions and moved to the DR. So what if the Jetblue crowd want to bang ugly Haitian whores. It’s legal unlike the pedophiles preying On poor children. Thank god it is not as bad as in Asia where the Aussies drive up the numbers.
So poor Lobo, I am a broke ass American that can’t afford to pay for sex. Anyone that knows me says my “ savior faire “ is that of a Sumo wrestler. The only action I get is with the wife. And of course when and if a child is conceived she will not need me anymore so maybe I will take my cheap pasola to Pedro Clisante and look for a date.
So not much has happened in the good old US of A except saving the world from some crazy German named Hitler and Tojo over in Japan. I love the anti American crap spewing from other countries. It’s like the New England Patriots. Everyone hates a constant winner except the people who reap the benefits of being a winner.

The beach closures by the government do not include the main Sosua Beach or Play Alicia.
Are they confirmed to be remaining open during the current State of Emergency?

you mean all those middle class Dominicans and spendy ex-pats cant sustain the local economy. I thought the monger and tourist set were insignificant.

Every restaurant and bar on the planet is struggling to survive. Sosua is no different.

MR Rob, restaurants in Sosua are struggling because there are NO tourists and or mongers. Countless restaurants have reinvented themselves and are printing money. They are making more because they adapted. Less employees and moving more product. In the US you can get food and liquor "to go". With delivery. D.R is no different in some aspects. Sosua, which rely's on tourists is of course crushed. I think the town will welcome the tourists( which we all know means mongers) back with open arms when covid clears out

I never went to the city beach. Very dirty. Only to Scandinavian bar for lunch. Or to Petra when her bar was there. . For a number of years I lived in Las Terrazas. (Before that - in Waterfront when it still had the swimming pool.). And when Los Balcones was finished I moved there. All my almost two decades life in Sosua was in Playa Alicia only. A couple of times I even was close to a fight with bananaidiots. They love to jump almost right on the sand at full speed.

Actually no Mr CT Rob ( and you know i respect your opinions, on and off forum)..

but some restaurants are actually doing better than ever , with the " new normal" of TAKE OUT only.. ( or OUTSIDE dining)

Faster, no limit ( tables and chairs limit how much you can make ).. "everyone knows the rules" (stole that from Davey Portnoy, u tube legend)
Order your stuff, pay, pick up. GTFO... N E X T !!!!!!!! just like on Olympia Diner .
cheee burge cheeburge... No Coke , Pepsi ..
they R making a KILLING..
but Sosua does not have a SINGLE Such Place , not ONE..

which Mathematically PROVES which Demographics SUPPORTED the Town of Sosua ..

its Math .. and it is a mathematical fact , more so now than ever ..

but if you can show me a SINGLE Restaurant in Sosua , with a LINE going around the corner for their Take out Food ,
I will be proven wrong, and apologize .

We're kind of talking about two different things here. First of all, when I said restaurants all over the planet were struggling, that's correct. Sure, there are always exceptions. Mostly depending on locale. As for Sosua, it's a tourist destination. With nobody flying in (regular tourists and mongers alike), expats staying home, locals staying home, curfew, confusion over what the law actually is, restaurants and bars are going to go belly up. It's got nothing to do with mongering.

2nd, I have always said that some bars, restaurants and hotels would struggle and close when mongers stop coming. It's only reasonable to think that, they spend money in bars, restaurants and hotels. Some (not all) restaurants, bars and hotels will adapt. And Sosua will adapt and survive.

3rdly, Everything is topsy turvy now as to what is going to actually happen re mongers vs. Tom, Suzy and the kids. If consumer confidence doesn't return for any travelers, those planned new real estate developments may get put on hold for another 10 - 20 years. And there could be some real suffering for a few years.

But there is good news - I've got empty condos with ocean views! Come On Down!
