Sosua Police/Noise Hotline

I've been trying to reach the ruido hotline at the police for three nights to report an all-night barking dog. It rings, buzzes, and then drops. I've tried the regular police number to the same result. I just tried now, during the day, to see if it might be different. It's not.

Going over to talk to the owners is not an option, as if the dog is ever struck by lightning or cuts himself shaving, they'll think I did it.

I don't want to call 911, as it's not a 911 situation (although if I don't get some sleep soon, it will be) but I am at a loss. Seems as if the best plan of action is to swing by the police station in person to file a noise complaint.

Doesn't that just agitate them ? And has has to stay away all night to keep blowing it.

no, it hurts their ears and after a few times they notice that if they don't bark their ears don't hurt.

Somewhere on the forum someone once posted the telephone number to call for a noise complaint. Good luck finding that post though.

I successfully reported the same issue about a year ago and they were actually quite responsive and professional.

What can they do with a dog? If it was loud music then I guess yes, but not sure how they can shut the dog up.

Call them (PN) up and tell them you have an issue.
When asked what the issue is, ask them to just
send someone. When the officer(s) arrive explain
to them what is going. 500 pesos should do the
trick.

When the neighbours complained about a different dog it got all the way to the fiscal.(squabble between rich gringos,of course).
He simply said 'Dogs are supposed to bark'.

Yes I find the police reponsive (i also have and use directly the personal phone numbers to use ). Did you know there is an Android app "Tu PoliciApp RD" that is official and recommended by the medio ambiante for reporting noise or any other criminal activity. Completely anonymous. I dont know about Apple store.

What works best is to send two cops on a motor with 500 pesos each to 'talk' to the offenders.
This seems to work, unless the offender offers them more to keep the loud party going
