In Taino mythology, Atabey was the feminine principle of the world, the mother goddess, the divinity of the moon, the sea, fertility and birth.

This afternoon on the beautiful beach of Sosúa a Taino ceremony was held in honor of the Atabey sculpture, which will soon be submerged in the ocean, where it will serve as a building for the creation of corals.

This sculpture that will also serve as a tourist attraction has been donated by Global Coralition
Big Reef Man Atabey

The more I look at it, the more I wonder if they're even going to be able to move it without it breaking.

What happens after the salt dissolves the rebar ? I give it a 10-month half-life

Glad to see real evidence of concern over our little reef.
Be nice if they kept the boats from dropping anchors on the coral

I did some survey work in Florida on underwater bridge pilings and rebar lasted a surprising long time but of course it had a lot more concrete protecting it than our statue.

Hell must have frozen as I agree with Chico Bill.
