Yet You DO not delete this post JDJones! I fail to see where this speaks of anything DR according to your deletion history?

Everybody got a chance to throw out their opinions. Now we're back to where we should be.

From now on if it doesn't fit the title, it's gone.

Meanwhile...

This is a vaccine we need here ASAP!

We have yet to even start the vaccination process well into 2021...

The Sputnik V vaccine is the best candidate for the DR. Or at least until we are able to secure some of those produced, as they are getting orders in the millions and not enough production to be expanded in the horizon.

I see you really do like this vaccine. Might you take a trip to Russia to get it?
Does not look like the DR is going with the Sputnik V doses.

And also curfews do not work. I saw last week that pea-brained Fauci said 14-day quarantines is not enough, it should be at least 21 days of isolation.
Fauci has more excuses than LeBron James when he loses a game.
Total and complete isolation for 21 days everywhere in the world would help. For a while, And then the virus would ramp up again. Rinse and repeat.
It only took one case to get the world to where it is today. Now there are cases just about everywhere in the world.

The only hope of change based upon how governments are treating this is that enough people get vaccinated in some "scientifically valid yet arbitrary number" so governments relax the restrictions. Maybe that will happen by 2022.

Just where are those vaccines that are supposed to be in the DR already (which I doubt very much is true).

At risk of being off topic.

I got mine.

Pfizer version, first of two, second in 21 days.
Easy peazy, tiny 22 gauge needle, never felt it, no sore arm, nothing.
Following shot they ask you to sit and hang for 15 to 30 min in case anyone has a reaction. Nurse said she has seen none.
First shot of the Pfizer duo reported to give 50% immunity.

Nice to no longer be concerned about catching the virus or worse, giving it to others and seeing them sick.
Hope the DR gets the AZ vaccine out asap so this nightmare ends.

I hope that Abinader can secure doses for all Dominicans, maybe the low pop. 10 mil. will help.
To cover everyone, the government will have to carry the cost as many won't be able to afford to pay for it.

Another DR problem is vaccinations for Haiti, as there is massive unregulated ingress of Haitians to the DR.

The arrivals from the US including many DR citizens is another question mark in regard to the spread of CV19 in the DR.

We don’t need to vaccinate 10 million people

Only those 30 yo and older.
The fatality rate in those under 30 is extremely minimal.

More than half of the population is under 30 here.
We can do much better than other places with the correct vaccination 💉 campaign.

Finally!
They contacted Sputnik V Russian holder to negotiate a batch!

Let’s hope we can secured a manufacturer for the formula after negotiations.

If only our local pharmaceuticals were to par with the technology required!!!!

I’m sure things will never reach the point here as it’s taking place in some developed nations now.

Thanks God we have a younger population by majority...

This is horrible!

What will be interesting to report is what percentage of front line health care workers in DR refuse to be vaccinated once whatever vaccines are widely distributed throughout the island.
It will vary by locale and hospital or clinic.
But based on US reporting it is as low as 10 % up to 50 % of Healthcare professionals are refusing the vaccine. Does that bode well for the general populace unless it becomes mandated?

We have a solid track record when it comes to vaccination campaigns in the DR. Rejections are minimal historically.
