The Ministry of Foreign Relations published the guidelines for Venezuelans with irregular status in the Dominican Republic to regularize their residence here. The Ministry of Foreign Relations is allowing Venezuelans to file paperwork here instead of in their home country. It is also allowing expired passports to be presented for the request for the temporary regularized status.

The new regulatory status is authorized for students and others that will be granted temporary working status. The measure enables thousands of Venezuelans that are here working illegally to regularize their status.

The Ministry of Interior and Police issued resolution 119-21 on Friday, 22 January 2021 that normalizes within the category of non-resident the irregular migratory situation of Venezuelan nationals in Dominican territory.

The resolution in its article two indicates that Venezuelan...

What happens if they don't act within 30 days?

Good for them. Those poor people down there never thought their government's socialist ideas would actually do what it did to their quality of life along with their standard of living... much like those idiots to the north are about to find out.

There are more Venezuelans in the DR thsn in Mexico, Costa Rica, Uruguay; Bolivia, Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago; Guyana, Aruba, and Curacao. Notice Venezuelans aren't going enmasse to countries like Belize, Cuba, Jamaica; Guatemala, Honduras and a few others.

The Dominican Republic is also giving special consideration to Venezuelans because during the Trujillo dictatorship, Venezuela open doors to Dominican migration, including many political refugees.

0 economic opportunity.
Why escape to a country that is poorer than yours?
indeed, that and different languages. The Venezuelans would not even consider living there, similar to Dominicans moving to Haiti. Not to mention the ahum cultural differences

I considered language barriers first, until I saw there is no rush upon Venezuelans to exodus to Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
For this, I placed economic concerns first. Not only for what they hope to gain/save, but to also be able to help their families back home with as well.

I've met a few who work hard for next to nothing. Some are UBER drivers, others selling on street corners. The gas station next door to my house has a middle-aged woman selling candy and chocolate bites out of a jar who says she was a medical practitioner back in her country.
On the other hand, the free online classifieds are overrun with Venezuelan escorts.

A woman in the DR where there are few to no jobs with kids to feed, it would not be a difficult decision to decide which candy to sell.

of course its mostly about the money. They Venezuelans are by and large an educated lot and would move to the middle east if it was logistically feasible. $$$ is king, that's why there is probably only 8 of them in Haiti

I have not seen where Nicolás Maduro has commented in regards to this act of kindness by the RD government.

Same here. I haven't met any from the classifieds, but the ones I have met have been educated and a pleasure to deal with. No impression of frustration or neediness either.
