Has anyone had their children attend The Abraham Lincoln School in La Romana ?

I am trying to find out information about transitioning my daughter into an English speaking school .

No, but it has a very strong reputation as one of the best schools of its kind in the country, with native English-speaking teachers.

Yes I am looking into this school in particular as we will be moving to La Romana. I emailed them and am waiting on further information. Thank You So much

If you are an extranjero I would suggest to enrol in any school that is accredited by the CIS or NEASC or SAC. Most accredited schools in the DR are part of CIS or NEASC or both,

Those schools that are not accreditated by an international organization...well you are playing at the casino to see what you get.

Usually any of the Saints are accredited:

St micheals
st thomas
st george

then there are new horizons, carol morgan, notre dame and heritage schools

There must be more but those listed above are schools that give an english language curriculum (meaning science, social studies, etc in English--- not ESL).

Saint George has the IB program as well.

You will have no problem getting your kids into universities around the world if the come from an accredited school...(of course they cant be flunking out).

Lots of Dominican kids that goes to none of those schools also get into universities around the world.

Junglemonkey has it about right. Most of the schools he mentions run around $15k per year (New Horizons, with larger classes, runs a bit less). You need to bear in mind that they are all for-profit companies, and tend not to be very selective. But the aim is to get students into foreign, or top Dominican, universities, which they mostly manage. There is a tendency to compensate the lack of intellectual rigor with lots of busywork homework, to show how demanding they are. But, as in most places where parents have money (or else they couldn’t pay the tuition), the very best and most disciplined do get into top foreign universities.

The International School of Sosúa, on the other hand, is also legally registered and COGNIA (AdvancED/SACS) accredited, but is less than 9K a year.
It is located on a ten-acre campus which includes classroom clusters, a computer lab, a library, an art studio, a dance/dream space, a science lab, cafeteria/multi-purpose building, an administrative complex, basketball/volleyball courts, two soccer fields and cabanas for study and socializing.

My daughter went there about 20 years ago. She is now an Architect in the US. Education was fine then. It is a nice layout they have.

I was about to post a new thread regarding this, but I will try first:

I am looking for a school for my almost 4 year old son, he has attended a "estancia" where only Spanish has been spoken so far since her mother works there. I want to get him to a bilingual school. We are around the Arroyo Hondo Viejo area, if that matters. I will be paying for it, so something that is good but not that expensive if preferable. The St seems to be out of my league, so just looking for something affordable and that gets the job done, but please dont discard anyone if you have good advice, willing to sacrifice for it. Also, if it has overstay will be appreciated as well, otherwise we will have to pay for transportation.

So, any advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Daughter attends Cathedral International School. Accredited by NEAS&C. We're very happy with it. Just on the other side of Ozama river from where you are.
