There is a white 2020 “Lambo” driving around Santo Domingo with plates indicating it belongs to a police officer. Obviously, in all probability, a very high-ranking one.

Diario Libre reports that nevertheless, the numbers do not add up. You see the pay for the highest officer, the director of the National Police, is less than US$2,000 a month, base pay. Add another US$2,000 for “incentives,” and the total still falls way short of the money usually needed to obtain a vehicle that starts with a base price of around US$200,000, and then you have to add on the options. Add nearly US$3,000 for a sunroof, surround camera, another US$2,000. Interior lighting package is over US$3,000. Of course, the sound system is special: Bang & Olufsen, at just US$6,300.

The question being asked is: Who owns this car? And how?

But a white Lambro just is not cool!
Lambro Orange, Red, Black are all great colors for sporty cars , but 'white'... I don't get it.
He should be arrested by the ''color Police''.
Even if he is a stand up citizen.

Poor Luis.
He really has his work cut out for him.
Get rid of this guy tomorrow and there are probably a dozen or more ready to step in and take his place. Reminds me of the drug cartels in Mexico...
Hmm....

That car would not look cool in any color. Well, maybe as "kool" as a Hyundai.

But let's see if the powers that be follow the money.

The question is who owns the car ?????

Thought a journalist's job was to answer that question.

How is a different matter, but still....

There is a "higher up" here in Santiago who drives a very nice Porsche 911 around where I live some weekends.

First time I saw him in it I thought it had to be drugs. Turns out I was wrong. He looks after a few properties which belong to a MLB player in back the states and drives the car every other weekend just to warm the engine and prevent it from sitting unstarted for months on end.

A close friend of mine plays poker at the playa chiquita casino every week and one of the weekly players is a police colonel. He is a lousy poker player, rolls in with a wad of 2000 peso bills and regularly loses 20-50,000 pesos and doesn't blink an eyelash, hmmmm.

I had a neighbor who was a general who had a brand new twin-turbo Lexus jeepeta. Supposedly the family has lots of moolah but I never figured out why he was living in a $500 apartment.

I have most often found that people with the most cheese, doctors, surgeons business men drive modest vehicles. It's an education thing! Exceptions of course are pro ball players and dudes with serious coin.

I wouldn't feel safe driving around in a luxury vehicle anywhere on this island.

Aside than obvious safety reasons, it would be like having a sparkling white living room the kids, terrorized if anybody drink, breath, eat or fart next to you.

Imagine every time a concho brushes past you, holes in the road....Doesn't sound like a relaxing ride to me :D
