I have been going to the hospital this week and it looks like I will be going most of next week too.
I was feeling rougher and rougher and really tired and a pain developed in my chest. My sport watch showed that my blood oxygen was dropping quite low. My wife made me go to Union Medica.
The girl at the desk gave me 3 places to go. I thought that I would try the blood doctor first.
She checked my breathing and gave me a little prick on the thumb where she put a drop of blood on a slide. She gave me a huge list of blood things to check and said that I should go to the lung doctor. That cost 2000 pesos
He took her papers and said that I could bin the chest x-ray and get a cat-scan instead. He checked my blood oxygen and pulse and his secretary put a thing like an octopus on my chest. That cost another 2000 pesos. He said to get something done and come back afterwards. I went to the place and they were so booked up I have to wait 2 weeks.
Anyway I went to the topgram, mammagram and another gram place. I got number one and was so happy but 2 hours waiting later my wife said they must have forgotten about me. All the pregnant women were arguing that they should be seen. I stood up and my gram place door opened and they called me in. It was comfortable and they told me to get my results the next morning.
Went back this morning and took a number. It looked like a lot of people ahead of me. The screen was on number 72 and I had 12. Quite a while later I got my scan and went back to the 7th floor.
The doctor opened the envelope and showed me my lungs. He found damage that he said was probably from the coronavirus. Luckily there is a specialist woman visiting for a while and he booked me in to see her. He said that she is the best in the whole island. He then asked me for the blood results. I had forgotten those after walking up and down 7 floors with my damaged lungs. I went with my big sheet of tests to the laboratory. Luis got exasperated with my bad Spanish and suddenly broke out in really good English. He said he learned it in the institute in a few weeks. He said that my insurance was blocking the tests as I needed so many.
We walked to Humano and saw a guy who said it was all ok so we walked back. Luis checked that my 7000 pesos of checks were covered and sent me to give my blood.
The woman took several cylinders of blood and I had to give a urine sample.
Now I have to get my results on Monday at the same time as my appointment with the wonderful lady who I was told can cure me with pills. I really don't want to miss her.
That's it for now. This has turned out to a bit bigger than I thought but my heart is ok.
