You all remember Jimmy McMillian "The Rent is too Damn High Candidate" who ran for the the mayor of NYC against now-disgraced Cuomo

Now there is this similar refrain from the People of DR: "The Chicken is too damn high"

Echos of Jimmy's campaign:

Discontent around the world is growing louder as inflation is accelerating and governments attempt to control their populations with creating poverty

Anything that happens in the US or to the US has a direct effect to DR. BTW all those people in the posts are DEAD republicans and actually both parties should be pictured. Socialism doesnt work.

and the people in US power NOW want to unify the the DR and Haiti into one single nation, and they have wanted that for a very long time. Remember...they want no borders!

Indeed and true even with the RD, perhaps even more so here.

Perhaps we need ponzi scheme, well understood by only a few, with some type of hyper complicated computer intensive processing to create a vapor ware type of currency to protect us from rampant inflation, deflation or stagflation, or whatever 'flation you prefer?

Prices are up. A type of tax that hurts the poor especially hard.

It hurts everyone. Just the difference in the cost of fuel per month means you can go 2 less times out to a nice restaurant for a family meal. That in turn hurts restaurants and their suppliers, as fewer people will be dining out. But the relief by dining at home is not much better as food in Playero is through the roof, seems it is way ahead of the reported cost of inflation.
By my guestimate food prices in Playero are up at least 20% over Christmas of last year. Am I off base on that number ?

It all depends on what products. Take bread for example, a cheap 5 peso bread now costs 8, so that's 60%, 1 pound of ground beef was around 100 pesos, now it's over 150, so that's 50%. And other stuff as well, I remember I bought a specific sausage that cost around 280 for one package, now it's over 400. So in general, maybe 20% but I would probably guess even higher.

Socialism seems to work very well for the rich..... the rest of us not so much....... I'm reminded of the old saying... "do as i say, not as i do"

It seams to me money has always been worth what the state, or warlord, or tribal leader, or church, or emperor has said it has been worth. The idea the money is, or needs to be, gold or silver or any other commodity is a little antiquated ........ what we need is a debt jubilee.

Remember, Inflation is nothing more than businesses raising their prices, we can argue till the cows come home on why, or if, some prices need to rise based on economic conditions, but it does not distract from the fact that higher prices are due to businesses raising prices

So by that logic, if businesses did not raise prices there would be no inflation? But of course, there would eventually be no businesses as they would have closed their doors, having been forbidden to raise prices to offset their input costs.

Like i said, you can argue forever on the why, but you are right as rain on the first part...... not sure where the second part came from insinuating businesses be forbidden to raise prices.

So re-framing this a bit, if as you say...." Inflation is nothing more than businesses raising their prices".............then how would you stop inflation?

Can't make a claim that stopping inflation is possible, their are many causes. Simply expanding the discussion beyond the old trope that inflation is all about the government printing more money. I find it much more plausible that financialization, monopoly, global supply chains, covid, and greed is driving this spat of inflation
