The last execution took place in 1963, when Eddie Lee Mays was electrocuted at Sing Sing Prison

If they had the need or desire this could have been tried in the federal courts and the death penalty imposed there (death penalty is still available in federal courts).

It was done in Massachusetts for the Boston Marathon bomber...........who is still on death row.........

Moot point now though.
