Whatever happened on Wednesday, that temporarily locked my ability to post, also seems to have caused a change to my privacy options.
I have not personally requested this change and my profile remains unaltered.
Is this a glitch or is it a deliberate alteration by the site administration?

Show your online status...This will allow other people to see when you are online. NO

Show your current activity...This will allow other people to see what page you are currently viewing. NO

I have allowed neither of these two options and yet both are showing.
What can be done to fix it?

I have same settings and they were not changed after the upgrade

Everyone was blocked. Me too. My preferences were not changed. Can’t you uncheck the boxes?

I had the problem of not being able to send a DM to one of our members. Cleared up the next day after you posted "testing"

That's the thing.
The boxes were never checked before and they are still not checked.
Maybe I'll check them, save changes and then uncheck them and see if that takes care of the problem.

I checked the boxes and saved the changes.
Then I went back and unchecked the boxes and saved the changes.
That's what I usually do when I have a technical difficulty with something.
Unplug, count to ten and plug again.
lol.
It usually works.
Not this time.
Nothing has changed.

Now whoever that was won't need to rely on DM's.
They can track you down any time they want.
The whole dr1 world knows you're on-line.
Is that a result of whatever it was that happened on Wednesday or have you always enabled that function?
