Hello Everyone,

My wife owns property in the Santiago area and would like to know how much lawyers would charge in order to obtain title...

Greatly Appreciate any Feedback

There is a lot of property that is owned in the 🇩🇴 .
There are ways to show your ownership.
I don't know how to do it.
I would ask my attorney to handle it.
But then we are back to post #1 are we not @Northern Coast Diver 😅

I agree with Vegas. The costs (in the end...not the consultation) will depend on how complex the issues are. Your lawyer will explain the complexities after he/she hears the details and does some poking around.

When you say title, do you mean a deslinde? What does she have now, a carta constancia?

Based on what we have been paying , a deslinde will cost around 50,000 pesos, plus another 20-25000 for lawyers fees. You can't get a proper title, blue coloured, without deslinde. The process can be time consuming. Very hard to sell for proper price without the deslinde.

If she does not have title, is she really the owner?
Quick story:
My ex's father called her one day and said he was terminally ill and had to see her.
She went to visit him, and he took her to see a large property of about 50 tareas.
He told her that it was hers and he wanted to make sure she knew so she would inherit it when he passed away.
A couple of weeks later his health really deteriorated and he died, so she went to settle the estate only to find that her aunt (his sister) told her he signed it over to her just before he died.

Thanks Bob for your response!
It seems like a complicated process.

Steve, what docs does she have now, if any?
Hi JD,
I haven't done any further research to find out whatever documents are available. I'll be going to Santiago during the Christmas Holidays and hopefully do some further researching. Thank You for your response. 👍

There is a German lawyer in Santiago, speaks english, who helped my friend get his title for about $20,000, which I found pretty cheap. But all depends on how complex your process is i guess.

Well I think you are going to need some big help in this case as the Aunt is trying de apropiarse de la propiedad which means there is bad intentions...
You might need more than a real estates especialista lawyer...
My daughter specializes in criminalista / penalista she is Santiago.

JJ, he didn't mention an Aunt, I did, in my ex wife's case.
