Sin prostitución, ni abusos a niños y niñas de nuestro País. ¡Esa es la playa de Sosua que iniciamos a construir!

Note that he wrote, "This is what we've begun to build"

They had all summer. People were prepared for this to start after Easterish. Imagine having plans to come for the winter and they do this? I sometimes think they don't understand tourism and how it works. I am changing my plans for the winter.
Yeah, I already booked to go to Bali instead.
I wouldn't know what to do all day in Sosua without the beach.

Sad it's come to this but after doing a simple search "Sosua Dominican Republic 2022" on www.youtube.com
I can certainly understand why they might feel this way.
Yes that's exactly what my wife always say about what is happening in Sosua.
She said someone need to start recording and uploading different type of videos of Sosua.
I would if I have the time.

On the surface it looks like the beginning of another "normal" day at the beach in Sosua. Not seeing a buildup of police in the area at this time. I'm am hearing rumors of an official announcement that is supposed to clarify what will happen and when phase one of the redevelopment will begin. As is often typical with this project there was a flurry of initial activity and declarations a couple of days ago but what was announced has not yet came to pass.

I have no doubt that eventually the redevelopment will begin in earnest but for now we can only wait and watch as we have been doing for as long as I can remember.

The beach will there, what might change a lot is the environment.
Arrabalizacion in the sorrounding areas that's what need to be cleaned up.

It looks like they will finally succeed in changing Sosua Beach. I know a couple of Dominicans with vacation homes near which they owned from before it became the type tourist area it has been. They must be happy and also dr1 member bathata who invested in RE. But I don’t think it solves those problems David Collado is addressing. That just moves around. More online and to Punta Cana as we discussed on another thread.

The problem are not the Beach shacks, I enjoy eating and and having a cold drink over there.
The problem everybody knows what it is.

Does this solve that problem then?
I've been wondering the same thing. Unless they start closing down businesses on PC along with the Casino disco club I doubt it will have a real impact other than putting a few hundred (mostly) honest people out of work.

I think they are trying to reduce the problem in some specific areas of Sosua and bring Sosua to what it used to be 20 years ago.
Turismo de familias en los hoteles.

It may work. A big step of course is taking over the beach. But overall the problems David Collado talks about is not solved in Sosua that easy and certainly not in the DR overall.

Posted today in David Collado's Twitter account. He is the Minister of Tourism.

"Without prostitution (tourism) and abuse towards children in our country. This is the Sosúa beach that we are creating!"

The Dominican government doesn't want the mongers and is actively beginning to destroy the sex tourism industry that foreigners have created in certain parts of the DR.
Judging from the comments on David Collados Twitter account Dominicans don’t think it changes anything. One comment asks Collado if he is aware that there are hotels in Punta Cana and Puerto Plata that has it as it’s main business.

100 % true un till economic conditions improve wages social programs and a new law banning prostitution,, redoing the beach wont end the problem chicas will just shift operations else where
