Not if you have the expired passport along with the new one...........but when you renew your passport in the US - which I did this year - the passport # changes.
Sounds like I'm screwed?

one thing you could rest assured that will happen any of these places that sell the marbete the BoZo's will do anything to make you get another document especially if you're a gringo.. they get a power high telling a gringo no noNot if you have the expired passport along with the new one...........
My wife is Dominican and she had to get a copy of her cedula to get a new Marbete.one thing you could rest assured that will happen any of these places that sell the marbete the BoZo's will do anything to make you get another document especially if you're a gringo.. they get a power high telling a gringo no no
If you renew over internet they deliver the Marbeter to the address you selected they will ask a copy of the cedula of the person you choose to receive it as a proof they deliver to the correct person. My wife is Dominican and she had to get a copy of her cedula to get a new Marbete.
As others pointed out the old passport should work. Do you have it?but when you renew your passport in the US - which I did this year - the passport # changes.

La Nacional in Sosua asked for a copy of our cedulas, a paper copy we had to get done a block away, of my cedula for my car and my wife's for her car, when getting the Marbete.
Seems silly because they can look it up on line to verify it. Duh....
This sounds like everyone has to go get their own now? No sending a guy to get 10 marbetes? Or can anyone do it, as long as they have a copy of the cedula of the registered owner?
Edit: I just had a thought. We’ve talked about the importance of making sure that when you sell a car the buyer actually puts it in his name (in case of an accident, etc, if it’s still in your name). Well, if someone bought a car and never bothered to put it in their name, they wouldn’t be able to buy a marbete because they wouldn’t have a copy of the original owner’s cedula……
No. That is what the Marbete does. License plate is currently permanent.........)
re: Quads
I have a DR license plate on ours. Does the registration have to be renewed on that as well?
Not if you have the expired passport along with the new one...........
Remember that they did not ask for a copy of your passport last year, I went to La Nacional and they asked for a copy. I gave them a copy of my passport renewed 2 years ago (here by the way) and no problem. As others pointed out the old passport should work. Do you have it?
What does it match then? What's weird on my car that I purchased 2-3 years ago the cedula/passport # on the marbete doesn't match my previous US Passport #.
When is it, 31 January?Wait till the last day to go get your Marbete - because that's what Dominicans do. Yes the same all important Dominicans who pass backed up traffic 3 lanes wide will not have to line up on foot (hopefully the rain too) in the biggest traffic jam of the year.
Or maybe they will try to walk to the front of the line - because they are after all so very important
They know the way it is here and they can change it at will. Then you can still get it at a higher price, but if you get stopped without it past whatever the deadline is they tow your car and that is even more money..........When is it, 31 January?
I few years ago I would not believe this. Now, when I enter the U.S I never show my passport. The kiosk takes my pic, I do not enter my passport and says welcome to the USA, Facial recognition works. What will they do when they no longer have paper passports?

The Paper Passport Is Dying
Smartphones and face recognition are being combined to create new digital travel documents. The paper passport’s days are numbered—despite new privacy risks.www.wired.com
That is going to confuse the fark out of them... All "digital" and on your phone...
American Airlines in Miami uses this to board planes...........I few years ago I would not believe this. Now, when I enter the U.S I never show my passport. The kiosk takes my pic, I do not enter my passport and says welcome to the USA, Facial recognition works.

I received for a friend, they only ask for the Cedula of the person that will receive it.Last year the delivery guy took a picture of my cedula, as proof.
Just for clarity, I took possession of the marbete BUT I did the renewal process on internet with my wife's cedula number, as that's whom the car is registered under.
So it was solely just to prove that he had handed over the marbete.
Let's see how it goes this year.
