How can you be surprised by this??? Resorts have outages, this is absolutely nothing new. SMH

Girl Missing from RIU Hotel in Punta Cana
During the day they will normally have the "red flag" out if the beach is rough.
Yes, they kick on pretty quick. But I have also seen where sometimes the outage might last a little longer. Happens.
If I had the chance, I would shut that hotel down, arrest these who are responsible and put that guy in jail. Raze that hotel down. Done deal.
Speculation is normal, saying you know for a fact definitely is not, unless you’re the one who buried her. Take it down a notch.
Again, over the top. Maybe stay out of this thread the rest of the day……….
IMO it seems to happen more with certain resorts more often than others. I have no idea if or how the outage played into this situation. If you go to reviews about this particular resort, you can see what the issues are, what the guests complain about.

I saw that. She's a college student. She doesn't know about waves? She can't understand a red flag?
That's actually news to me. I'm no resort pro but I've never experienced it in about 5 or 6 different stays.

Supposedly the Missing woman, and the Young Man KNEW each other from Chatting online .. for an unknown period of time, and SHE invited him to come to the Hotel when she and her Friends Scheduled it , and finally meet up in person.
That would be a New twist to the Story .
It would definitely explain why her 6 Friends LEFT her on the Beach with this guy ..

That place was mobbed with college kids. Looks like "Spring Break Central" in Punta Cana.
Folks don't realize the logistics of running a place like that. Extended local outages and diesel deliveries cannot be lined up to fall into place magically. Also if a main generator goes down, sometimes the usual mechanic isn't available like a 24 hour ER doctor
This always seems to be an issue here. My experience is there are some members of this board with a considerable amount of experience, expertise and general hands on knowledge of DR culture, systems and processes. Many know the law better than in their home country. Some are retired cops, military, CEOs etc. Yes, and some are just sheisters as well, most likely criminals in their home country.
Why not share where you saw this? My guess is it is just some BS from a keyboard warrior seeking clicks, but who knows?
That's the key question. I didn't even know a person in his position would be qualified to make a statement like that. My initial thought was that perhaps someone saw an opportunity to conflate the two issues. You know how things are between the two countries. Could you imagine the response from the US if it happened to be a Haitian who was the culprit? DR would probably get all the support and funding they need.
I had heard this when one of her family members was posting about her going missing in the expat facebook groups earlier last week before it hit the media. I thought it was strange someone had mentioned that RIU had a power outage that day. First time i saw someone mention it again since.
