Dominican Republic and Haiti border officials and the “Frontera Caribe” project emphasize the need to view the shared border region as a space for life and prosperity. The “Frontera Caribe” project, led by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, aims to improve education, research, and journalism related to the Dominican-Haitian border.

Following a tour of development projects showcasing government and private sector interest, representatives, including Erick Dorrejo from the Ministry of Economy and Spanish journalists Santiago Tejedor, David Jiménez, and Álvaro Laforet, highlighted the area’s potential for economic growth through trade, tourism, manufacturing, and agriculture.

The group visited key sites like the Manzanillo port, energy plants, the border fence, the Dajabón market, and ITESIL. Tejedor stressed the importance of new narratives...

Sets of eyes and ears of journalists observing the border zone may have objective narratives as how to proceed to improve the area.

Oh, Spanish journalists rushing to cover the Dominican-Haitian border is adorable, like their own borders haven’t been busy enough with boat landings,
migrant crises, and Melilla turning into an episode of Border Wars: Iberian Edition.
But sure, fly across the ocean, maybe the Caribbean heat will help with the selective amnesia

Hopefully Bilbao and Barcelona definitely leave Spain. why stick around in a country where the biggest welfare recipient wears a crown and waves from balconies for a living?
