Gregg, I think the reference was to the misspelling of the name "Wright." That doesn't actually surprise me since I have experienced the way my name gets butchered when someone whose first language is Spanish tries to spell it.

Spanish orthography doesn't allow for the peculiarities of names that contain silent letters or that are not pronounced as they are written. Also, and I am certain that Hillbilly and others will agree, there is a lamentable tendency in Dominican Spanish towards misspellings in general.

Just think about how "cerveza" becomes "cervesa" or "vaca" becomes "baca."
They sure like to dance and know the English word, thats why they spelled it "Dancy" Anyway, do you think the opposition would contact Puerto Plata Habla and post their own story? I mean, the skeptics of D'Arcy's abduction? habla, habla, habla :)

The link to police having custody of suspect is all BS. It only says that the police has rounded up a few suspects for questioning. This is a routine practice in DR when the police is pressured to find results. They would pick up a few bad guys in hopes of making them talk by force.
Nothing new in the article.

Aftab,
Would you be so kind as to let me know which policeman you spoke to & on what day? I am not distrusting what you say but I would like to know so that I can verify it myself from him/her!

You see OUR problem (or certainly mine) is that we are getting alternative information from the higher ups. As your Spanish is better than most, could you ring Coronela Francia Hernadez & check it directly with her. Tell me when you have spoken with her & I will ask her why she says one thing to us & another to you (if she confirms what her squaddy says).

If you prefer to keep this offline you can PM or e-mail me - no problem.

Thanks ~ Grahame.
My conversation with police took place right outside of rocky's on the main road. Tonloc from dr1 and 3 of his friends were also present there. I called over the police in charge of the operativo on the street. At first he didn't want to talk about the case but when I insisted, he laughed and spoke a bit. He assured me it is common knowledge among the police in sosua that D'arcy was not kidnapped, on the contrary, he went away for a few days to have fun. Now you don't even have to call any coronel in any department for that, just talk to a few police officers in sosua. I am sure they will not change their story as we are seeing here on Dr1 for the past few days.

The main reason I have not posted, except to say thank you, is that I have been strongly advised not to release information that may compromise the investigation. For those who stubbornly refuse to believe I was abducted, the police detained and questioned a man a week before my return and he gave the precise details of my abduction, which support my statements to police. He also provided names of the alleged perpetrators of the crime which led the police to question other detainees. This can be verified by several police officers, all the way up to Coronela Francia Hernandez.

When I went to <st1:city w:st="on"><st1>Santo Domingo</st1> </st1:city>to retrieve my computer from the authorities, Colonel Francia Hernandez extended the courtesy of providing a police officer to go with me to aid me in the process. This treatment alone should be proof enough that the allegations of a fake abduction are completely unfounded and the press release from the Polic?a National in local newspapers fully confirms that. Nice title for this thread.

Tends to lead people in one direction.

When I went to Santo Domingo to retrieve my computer from the authorities, Colonel Francia Hernandez extended the courtesy of providing a police officer to go with me to aid me in the process.
Glad to see you were well enough to make that long trip to Santo Domingo and back and now the long flight home.

Let's see, Thursday was a half day of work because of the Holiday, and Friday was a Holiday.
Missing expat D'Arcy Wright was found alive yesterday, Sunday December 27th.
We were then told that you were recovering and may have some brain damage, that an MRI, etc was necessary with the doctors.

Great recovery, since that perhaps only left Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to do all that and still have the time to go to Santo Domingo and back from Sosua. Lots of pre-planning for a person suffering from drugs, even having time to compose a DR1 thread.....

What was more important, the laptop, passport or both?
The mental stress of the police having the computer must have been terrible, hoping the "cleaning" job was good enough.

You are truly ONE amazing person D'Arcy!
The Number 1, Greatest Story Ever Told, could have some serious competition.

I am leaning strongly in one direction, please prove me wrong, hate to think that all that time and worry was wasted.

My opinions are based on what I read here, some believe their silence is proof enough, wrong, we need more then blind faith!

I still do not believe the "full" kidnapping story.

The alleged victim said in his statement that he went to retrieve the computer and passport.

First of all, this does not prove that the kidnapping was real. Forensic experts can make exact copy of the harddrive (I don't know the expert word for it, but it's like an exact copy including what is written in every cluster on the drive) in the matter of hours. After several days of them having the computer they would already be able to release the computer. And the return of passport - as the police said in the previous article, there was nothing to investigate, case closed.

Second, and most important of all, the alleged victim has addressed NONE, absolutely NONE WHATSOEVER of the "holes" in the story.

For example:

1) The money and debit card in the shoe - he did say he had hidden those in the shoe before he went to the beach, but, come on, who hides money and debit cards in the shoe in the broad daylight when they go for a walk? Also, he went home in meantime, after leaving the beach, and changed (as was said) so it's hard to believe he did not take off the shoes ...

2) The dogs guarded in the backyard ... still cannot imagine any perp putting away the dogs to the backyard ... and closinga nd locking after themselves.

3) The phone records, and sms messages sent form the "alleged" broken Iphone (We still are waiting if the other involved party would agree to post results of the info they got from Claro/Codetel) but a bold statement by Robert makes me to believe that those records really exist. NOW, if those records show familiar numbers being called by the alleged victim in the incriminating time period, I think, things are clear ....

4) Nothing was said by the alleged victim about the business, and how he intends to approach this side of the story. This just raises additional questions about the motives before and after the alleged kidnapping.

5) Also, why would the alleged kidnappers have left the alleged victim in a whorehouse. or if they left him elsewhere, why did he go to a whorehouse? Also, if the alleged victim claims he had 500 pesos in the "shoe" that would no get him far in the whorehouse. Also, from what did he pay his transportation, lodging, and nutrition costs?

I think the alleged victim could clear any doubts by showing us a bank statement or letter (banks do that after paying a fee of maybe 100 pesos) saying or showing that his account had no movements in the incriminating time period. The other personal and payment information not related to the time period in question can be blanked out ... these are my thoughts.

And at the end, I would repeat what I said early: Praise and great thanks go to all who selflessly devoted their time and effort in the search and rescue operation. They were worried about him, as I was too; every human life is priceless. Whether that operation was a result of real or bogus kidnapping we'll hopefully find out soon.

Did you notice the information you get when you quote the post?

Lot's of extra control stuff in the quoted message.
First time I have ever seen that.

I went back and did a search on his name and some others for posts to quote, but have yet to find ANY that are formatted as in this last post from D'Arcy.

I can not check his immediate preceding post as the thread is closed and one can not quote from a closed thread.
His posts prior to that do not contain the same control stuff.

So from who and from where was the post created.

I'm sure a moderator can at least verify the supposed location it was sent from via the "IP" address.
With some people sharing passwords, hard to tell who's posting what.
Perhaps from the D.R. while he was not in the D.R.?

Robert, maybe you can shed some light on all that extra control stuff in quoting D'Arcy's post?
Even check the previously post which is closed to see if it too has those special control characters?

Just curious as to why this post is different then others he posted.

Looks like his post was written in HTML editor (like Dreamweaver, etc.) and the source code was C & P 'ed in the message typing box and then submitted.

Strange indeed ...

This can be explained.

Kidnappers are not such bad guys after all. They try to accommodate their victims and keep them happy. :bunny:
And maybe they knew (from I.S.O.C.) D'Arcy's predilections and favourite brothels?

I am sure the bad boys gladly spend a few tousands on the victim's needs in anticipation of the ransom millions. ;)

All makes totally good sense. :tired:

The previous post in the closed thread also has lots of extraneous control characters.

As the OP says in black and white the posting does appear to originate in Canada but as he says nothing more definite than that, neither shall I.

I too would agree that it was probably cut and pasted from another source - , like a text editor, word processing program or messenger type communications program but I would have no idea which one how to tell which one.

From a brief search it looks like the tags are quite frequently used in IPHONE applications.
Quite a busy man, Doctor's visits, recovering from being drugged, trip to Santo Domingo and back, packing to travel back to Canada, Welcome Back party, getting the IPhone repaired.

(Perhaps just a dead battery, no time to grab charger on the way out the door)

.... a very ambitious man!

I think the budget Miss Marples should give it a rest for a while and see what develops.
We are clouding the issue even more. What I see are people posting to try to get brownie points from other posters

So the thread title means you do not have any "confirmation of facts"? Because the OP confirmed NOTHING., and you are still searching.
