Punta Cana is full of food save to eat.
I live here since over 15 years and meats and fruits and veggies offered here all around I never found unsave,
and even without the in foreign countries usual deseases coming up once in a while of foul meet in germany, crazy cows in britain, sick Piggs elsewhere, Birds with a deadly flu etc etc etc.
to find meat, fish, fruits, veggies etc in Punta Cana Bavaro in top quality never been a problem since many long years.
just forget about the typical american costumbre that all is available at the same time under the same roof,
we don't have such trash markets here,
you have to shop around when new in the area, check the different spots,
and after a few weeks you know where you get what kinda product needed and where it is best to buy.
cheers

The rumour about Super Nacional in the old bowling alley was false after all, unless anyone has any inside knowledge. KateP?

Iberia

Hey folks what I do is drive to higuey which is closer than la romana, about 45mins from bavaro. I find that iberia has everything ! It's like there version of a wal-mart and i find the prices are not bad. All the marketas in bavaro i think are just way over price. I beria has clothing, food, electronics cosmetics and just about everything a super store back in the states would have. I find the food there can be 20,to 40 % less than in bavaro.

for clothes and shoes check the shops near iberia,
Iberia itself is very expensive on clothing and shoes,
except some once in a while upcoming specials like the one ofr Jeans last year, when I saw their promotional sign I thought there is some spelling error, offering Jeans for 99 pesos a pair, all sizes, the ones I took in my hand seemed to be of good quality, specially for that prize.
I took one pair to check them out, I still have them, but sorrily 2 weeks later on my next visit that special offer been over, I bet they sold them all the same day.
should have bought at least 5 pairs.

Update - The aisles have now been installed in the Supermercado Nacional, in the old Bolera in Punta Cana Village, and the goods were being unloaded today. There are billboards and banners all over the Ver?n, B?varo and Punta Cana area. The parking area and access roads are in the final stages.

They may even make their target opening date next Wednesday or Friday (depending on who you ask).

didn't see a billbord or banner when crossing Veron today on the way back from Iberia/Higuey, but that of course maybe due that heck of Rain that came down on me all day long, darn vaguada hanging over us, Go AWAY!!!.
the nacional opening would be a Blast, the earlier it happens the better.
it can only go better ""shoppingwise"" in PC, he he.
next week we will see what happens, but it looks like we will go shopping there very soon.
