Security Issue with MSN and hotmail?

I discovered three day's ago that apparently some body logs into my MSN life space from a different computer. As I am being thrown out on my laptop without warning, I get the following message :

You cannot log in on this account from two different places at the same time. Please log out of the other place.

As this has been happening for the past three day's regularly, I have today made an offical complaint with Microsoft about this.

Is there any body who has/had the same problem here and what can I do myself to avoid this in the future?
There are no other computers in this house which are connected to the Internet. Just this one laptop.

Have done that already several times, doesn't help apparently.

The hacker might have changed your secret question and every time you change the password he can ask for it through secret question. You might have a trojan installed, keylogger etc. if you use computers in some internet cafe then they usually have keylogger installed to sniff out your passwords. So change the password and see if there is no other e mail put in as your secondary e mail or a different secret question.

Coincidentally, this morning I received the following e-mail from someone who is a computer programmer for a US govt. contractor. I even checked back with him to make sure he really did send this to me.

for a block to be put in place and will remove the block when we are
confident the website is safe.

Yes indeed, beware of this one. My laptop got infected just this past Sunday from this virus. Some strange reason it slipped right past my virus protection program. Luckily my laptop has two user accounts. My main account was infected but I was able to use the guest account to download Norton Power Eraser, a virus removal program. Be careful............

AE : no such thing like you described on my laptop and anyway, I don't trust mails like that so they go straight to the bin.

My son and all his friends Hotmail accounts were compromised, so you are not alone with this problem

I did a scan of my laptop last night with SuperAntiSpyware and it found a Trojan Agent with the description: "Fake Alert".

I get that message once in a while as well and I also got it back in Canada last year. I found that it happened mostly when I would open a second browser or forgot to log out on my other laptop. I never figured it out, but it has stopped for the time being.

Changed passwords, changed secret question, run scan with different scanner and found 5 Trojans...now I don't remember my new password anymore :tired: and since I erased the secondary email account...hmmm, how will I solve that one.

Seamonkey, I only use one laptop and never am I logged in to different browsers at the same time. Thats something I don't put my time in, working with two different browsers at the same time, have no real use for that.

Your husbands email account got hacked and weird mail has been going to his entire address book. I've been receiving penis drug ads and disgusting porn for months now, mainly from European vendors. Maybe I'll start forwarding them to you so you can "enjoy" your Inbox as miuch as I have. Muchas Gracias...:tired:

If your computer has 5 trojans, you might want to invest time in some other anti-virus/anti-hacking software, 'cuz yours ain't doin' the job.

Contact msn in the support section and ask for a password reset. They will ask you some questions that you have to fill out, in order for them to confirm you are the actual owner of the account.
Now take out your important data and reformat the drive install windows (clean install). Install the latest anti-virus first, example: avast for home (free). Then scan your old data on the external hard drive and see if its virus free. Then move your data to your new formatted pc. Problem solved.
If you can't do it all, then you have a problem. if you send your pc to a shop for reformat, many times the people there will take out your personal stuff and use it for their own entertainment example: private pictures. hehehehe

All our important data is alway's on several external hard drives, nothing on the lap itself. I may be silly as you said in another thread but I am not dumb HA! Doing a reformat of the drive shouldn't be that difficult, can handle that one. Thx again.

I believe in reformatting the hard drive every 2 years. This eliminates all the junk, all the junk registry and all the programs that you have never used. This will eliminate all the viruses and will make your laptop fast. I do this and keep my old machines to top speed.
