Very large waves the past few days, and continuing today, have removed a lot of sand from Sosua Beach. For 100 yards, mas o menos, from the Sosua Bay Hotel is covered with very large fllat rocks and what looks like the remnants of an old dock.
The good news is that Sosua native Rene Kircheimer happened to be there at same time as I was and he said this is very common. He said over the years the sand has been removed from this area but always has come back after the waves die down.
Must have been a lot of sand because I have seen people stick umbrella poles in the sand in this area. With all that rock, there would have had to have been a lot of sand to permit an umbrella to be there.
Lots of chairs piled up on high ground behind the rocks. It will be awhile before they are in use in that area.
