    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

OP: General questions/comments added: A. I'm probably looking at non-sealed lead acid 12v batteries. Besides cost, how do I evaluate how many I need: X specs gives me Y results . . . B. Three names have come up in this discussion (besides Lifepo4), and these makes seem to be available here...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

I can't give you a solid answer but I can give you some information. The customer service at POWERTEK was excellent. For example, they immediately emailed me a manual in English for my inverter. We had a general electrician friend do the installation for about RD$5,000, labor and materials. We...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

Thanks for this. I take it that the green top Interstate 6v batteries are not cheap batteries, right? (Your argument was to not recommend cheap batteries < "false economy.") Are they available here? Where? I don't understand using 6v versus 12v. 12v seems to be the standard, so if I wanted to...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

Re: the 3 cell NAPA, I don't understand. Is that a different battery from the 12 cell? Different specs?

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

Are they available in the D.R. and, if so, where? At RD$275.00/lb. impossible to ship here (for me).

    Thanksgiving in DR

Thanks. Yeah, I looked at that. Going all the way to the airport would be a dealbreaker even if it was up and running.

OP: No luck. All I can find is dead links and old information or "Denny's" that are other businesses with the same name.

    Thanksgiving in DR

Hello All, For me, turkey, except for the cornbread stuffing is "Meh." It's all the other stuff that I relish! Except for one catering option, all the posts here reference DIY meals. That is so not going to happen for me. I am looking for a restaurant that serves ready-made meals. Believe it or...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

Op Summary: I'm calling this a "summary" but it may not be the last word. I read the manual. Fortunately, it's in English, well written, and has lots of diagrams. My model is POWERTEK ECO SW Series, 1.5 KW. I didn't understand much of what I read but what I did read and possibly understand...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

You very well may be right. Still investigating. There is a consensus here that when the inverter switches to D.C. that shutdown must occur before the battery reaches < 50% charge. I am reading my manual now, since my inverter is programmable, to find out if there is such a setting and I'll...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

My high-tech PowerTek inverter (digital) costs only about $100.00 more than the low-tech one (analog). The cost is in the battery. So much so, that for me, I cannot afford more than one. Before I ran into my problem we were going about 18 hours before shutdown, which was not great but O.K. And...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

True, there are cheaper ones. I went for the no maintenance, sealed.

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

In your scenario, all batteries reach EOL. True, but in the meanwhile, those same batteries can be re-charged, and remain effective, a limited number of times. So, if I have not recharged my inverter's battery one time, why can't I do that?

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

First YT video. This guy states the paradox: You don't want to discharge a battery too much but the whole point of the battery, to use it, is to discharge it. He says that a discharge should not be below 50%. I will check my manual and see if there is a way to program it to shudown at 50%. Also...

    Inverter and Battery Charging Question

Seems like yours is analog and mine is digital. I'm going to check my manual and see if I can do the same.
