I don't see how Pfizer's vaccine will work well here.
This country has been struggling in many areas for generations.
We can add vaccinating people (with or without cedulas) to the list.
Many may receive the first shot but how many people do you think
are going to return on time, if they return at all, to receive second one?

I understand that CV19 vaccines have been announced to be for citizens with cedulas.

I understand that the DR government has asked the WHO to step in for vaccinating Haitians in the DR.

My question is how will legal residents or illegal aliens not from Haiti be able to be vaccinated.?
When, where, how much will it cost, etc. Any information on those two specific group would be appreciated.
Nobody knows when vaccines will arrive and when citizens will be inoculated.
Looking at developed countries may give you a clue.

I hear that the guys selling viagra on street corners will also do inoculations.
What one will be injected with who knows, consider the amount of counterfeit medicines sold also in pharmacies.
It's a huge international market, where even pharmacies are fooled or buying product at lower prices.

Illegal ingress of Haitians and legal arrivals of US tourists should also be a concern.
The only hope is mass vaccinations by gob.do free of charge, otherwise the virus and mutants will continue to spread.
So far the DR has done well as an island, compared to cv19 infections in developed countries.
Let's hope DR stats stay low, a high volume spread would be disastrous.

Interesting part from the todays announcement as translated by DR1 News :

The President did not address the case of foreign residents in the Dominican Republic. Those with IDs and residency cards are already in the system. Thus this obstacle mentioned by the President would not be an issue.

Any body got any more info ?

I know someone who used to work for a doctor in Moca who happens to be the owner of a well-known
pharmacy in the center of town. My good friend has told me a few stories about how him and his son
manufacture and sell counterfeit medicines using different food powder products as the base.

Although I plan to wait a few more years before getting in line to get poked, I do think people who make the
decision to get vaccinated should not have to wonder or worry whether or not they are receiving the real deal
and when it comes to the "hustle" mentality so many of these folks are born with, I can see counterfeit vaccines or
watered down vaccines being a problem in the future.

Let's be honest here now. After all, it is Monday evening.
Did they actually OWN the pharmacy, or just the building the pharmacy happens to be located in, managed by another company, of course? ;)

No.
They own it.
From what I understand, they are part of a group based out of the Capital and have deep pockets.

Acknowledged.
But they're many within our own proper community that declare the same......until proven different.
I believe in your assertions.

Right. Many do. Unfortunately some people have inside knowledge
and no reason to make it up.

Appears Luis is worried about the "hustle". Sad truth. Good read. Buyer beware because Dominicans are about that money.

Abinader warns entrepreneurs to avoid scams with vaccine marketing promises:

President Luis Abinader warned entrepreneurs to be careful with scams that may occur, because on social networks there has been talk of a secondary market for the marketing of coronavirus vaccines.

He indicated that he does not believe that this secondary market exists , because all the laboratories have assured that they are selling the vaccines only to governments.

He said that both the laws of the regulatory bodies where these laboratories are located “and ours prevent them from selling massively. So be very careful with any level of scam that there may be in the networks because that does not exist, "said the president at the event where the Government announced the entire vaccination plan, for which more than 21 million have been purchased dose.

While Vice President Raquel Peña said that it is the responsibility of the Government to guarantee the proper vaccine and that the only way to issue the permit is through the Ministry of Public Health, after validating that they meet all the pharmacological conditions to be applied.

While the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Ivelisse Acosta, explained that these vaccines receive a sanitary permit from the regulators of the different countries and until they have a sanitary registry they cannot be marketed.

He emphasized that in different countries, governments take on this coronavirus vaccine in the interest of safeguarding equity, so that there is equal access.

Because I know the person who shared this information with me
is not making it up.
I was asking this person:
Acknowledged.

I believe in your assertions.
He is the one that challenged you...
Not I.

I am noticing that reading comprehension in English seems to be a lost art.

Hope springs eternal but I have come across no new information to suggest that the DR Govt. vaccination campaign will include anyone other than Citizens.
So according to Dominican Today “ President says 40% of Dominicans (will) shun the vaccine” .....Most people in our offices are saying ...’ya veremos’...that they will wait and see ....and not rush to be vaccinated.....Our Dominican neighbor said that he wouldn’t trust imported vaccines....and that “most people “ he knows in DR don’t give AF about vaccines 💉

The most likely outcome would therefore be that ......anyone who wants to be vaccinated ...citizens, legal residents or not ....will be vaccinated...probably by the government... a pharmacy...or by some dude at the colomado....

All it will take is one person having a serious adverse reaction in this country, be them a legal resident or not, let it make the news and I guarantee you the overwhelming majority will not be stepping forward to get poked. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand the way things move down here.

He's never going to get a vaccination then as there isn't much chance of a Dominican made vaccine becoming available. Doesn't he trust other imported pharmaceuticals either?
