First let me start by saying assume i'm the most ignorant person there is so please if you dont mind being as detailed as possible when replying (thanks). I group of us (6 single guys) plan to visit DR in the last week of April, not one of us speak spanish and we are cluless as to where to stay for the most fun both in the day and in the night. First priority though is safety. Ideally we would love to be in a NICE villa (at least 4 bedrooms) on or very very near the beach. Partying/clubbing is big for us and ideally we would want to be where the prettiest girls are. Though we would love to see the prettiest beaches we are all originally from Jamaica so beautiful beaches is not a must. A beautiful villa is.

That depends if you are going to 'pay to play' with the local chicas, or if you are looking to hook up with tourists chicas. Either way, the Sosua / Cabarete area will suit you. try looking up VRBO is Vacation Rentals By Owner and search those destinations for villas. You are more likely to find condos for rent.

smitsizzle,
four bedrooms are a little hard to find in Cabarete, but if that's where you ultimately go, you won't go wrong with the 4 bedroom at Harmony... http://www.oceandreamcabarete.com I think it's listed on VRBO.com as well. It's on the beach, secure, and you can easily walk to the center of town, bars, restaurants, discos. I know people that have stayed there and really enjoyed it.

North coast?

Like Don mentioned, safety was a first priority. That pretty much rules out the majority of the north coast. Even Las Terrenas as nice as it is, is catching up with it's western neighbors, especially the hookers, and pesty vendors. Hookers in Sosua are as trashy as they get. If you like a local Hatian or girl from the campo whos been had a couple thousand times by guys like you, and don't mind watching over you sholder everywhere you go, maybe the north coast will work for you. You also have the POP option.
If they are looking for a villa, I assume money is not a huge objective? I would go to Punta Cana/Bavaro area....even Cap Cana. The difference is the class of girls your getting. The nicer hotels have casinos. In my expierence I've found the best looking "call girls" not smutty hookers like you find hanging on the streets, in the casinos, discos, and better hotel bars. Nicer beaches, much safer area, and plenty of condos for rent. Seems a no brainer to me.
This post is directed to the OP's....not those on the north coast who will obviously disagree with my opinion....it's just my opinion......
Enjoy your trip, where ever you end up.

I am a not so young, English female who lives near the North coast with my English partner. We chose to live here 3.5 years ago and I find your comments to the OP a total load of bollox to be honest!!

The consistent knocking of the North coast is becoming extremely boring IMHO, why not offer these guys something realistic instead of being just obnoxious all the time?

The constant "knocking" of the north coast has been media driven, and for good reason. If you live there, you know. Sosua and the general area has gone to hell in a hand basket. I've been there 13 years ago, and the changes are for the worst. Doesn't surprise me that your Brit, or that you chose "that place" to live. No bull, what information I gave is factual, but then again how would you know.....your a not so young female.
Sorry you were offended whirly, but as I stated, the post was for the OP not some not so young female Brit....or anyone else to contest. My view point, and accurate
The north coast has made it's own bed, now it has to sleep in it.

Could you explain what you meant by this statement?

You may not have noticed that I said we live NEAR the North coast but we are not in one of the main towns to which you refer and generalising that 'the North coast' is all in decline is rather a generalisation.

There are many beautiful and interesting places along the North coast - not just one town!

Not bitter, just the facts. The north coast or Sosua for that matter would be the last place that interests me in the country. I've seen most of it in 13 years past, found LT and the southeast my favorites....although if I had to pick a town to live in, it would be Jarabacoa.
Nah, no girls for me, I had my younger days, I get mine for free now.
Hookers, this and that? I guess that was mentioned by the OP as far as the type of entertainment there looking for. I personally wouldn't touch a north coast girl with a ten foot pole, guess it's just what floats your boat.

Whirley, don't be offended......I have to agree that many areas inland up north are quite different that the POP area. I have property in the Rio San Juan area for 8 years now, and rent it out to girls from Canada. Not sorry I bought, but might do a little differently today knowing what I do now.

Brit? I could tell a mile away. Seems the majority, no? (Personal speculative comment removed.)

bluebayou,

Express opinions all you like but keep the personal comments about other posters to yourself please.

is this the most interesting thing you can find to talk about with your 13 years of living in this country

Peanut gallery??

Never said I lived in the country for 13 years. Traveled, worked, bought property, and vacationed in the country for the past 13 years. I don't beleive your post was directed to the OP? maybe you have something to offer? if you go back to the original post....you will see the OP and friends are looking for GIRLS...something you probably know nothing about.
Sit back and attack with your one liners.....ha

Just to clear things up a little, most of the hookers you will find on the streets of Sosua are from Santiago, Santo Domingo, Moca etc. who come over for the weekend to make a few $$$. We do have a few full timers and newly arrived Haitianas. But several of the real pretty ones are from out of town.
