Re: Child Prostitution and irresponsible reporting

So your point is??? What has that got to do with doing positive things to benifit the children. Whatever we can do to help others we should be willing to do. I still think boys and girls clubs and big brothers and big sisters is a good idea. Anyone who thinks child prostitution is not a problem here and all over the world just dosen't want to see it. Any time in any city almost in every country one can find what one wants. Be it drugs, sex, gambling or whatever. To simply dismiss this issue as poor reporting only supports those who would try to take advantage of GOD'S greatest gift OUR CHILDREN THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD.

Maybe some reporting overdo the issue, just to gain
headlines. Or, which God forbid, to promote the traffic.

Tom, you're so right, and I come to think about a phrase like
"one wrong don't cancel another" (my bad translation...)

I lived in "la F?" and saw them. Talked to them. There was
the neighbours daughter. Another neighbours grandson...

No matter what any "academic" says, child prostitutes exists
plentyful, and of both genders. Living a very hard life
at an age where we "lucky" ones had the next baseball score as
"the big problem".

"We didn't inherit this world from our parents. We just
borrow it from our children!"

Gunnar,
That is a beautiful phrase......
"We did not inherit this world from our parents; we borrow it from our children."

Is that original?

Don't think I have ever heard it before. Thank you for sharing.

And just as an aside on the subject...
We are dealing with the "world's oldest profession" and I doubt seriously if it can be legislated out of existence, moralized out of existence or "educated" out of existence. Don't get me wrong, that does not make it right or excuse it. It is just a fact of life and living....
How does the old prayer go...
"Lord help me to change the things I can change and to accept those that I can not change and the wisdom to know the difference."

Yes, many of us on this board are truly lucky in the lives we lead and have led and the childhoods we were priviledged to enjoy. Many who are raised in poverty have no childhood.
I don't want to belabor the point but it will take someone far more intelligent than I, to solve THIS problem. I don't even pretend to have/know the solution.

Re: Child Prostitution and irresponsible reporting

I don't see "the worlds oldest profession" as a problem as such.
The "need" for the service however, is a differrent matter.

There are not few (formal or informal) institutions teaching
guilt for God-given human instincts. Without that "guilt"
feeling...

I seldom hear any complaints about these institutions. Just
about the victims of their madness.

Once again, why is it most people complain about the prostitutes,
but seldom about the customers? Last time I counted, it took
two to make the transaction...

The "world" quote, I don't remember exactly the origin.
2:35 AM night session at Amnestys Stockholm office? Maybe...

In my view, only one can solve all problems. I can just try
to "do the best that I can". Which is not very much. But
maybe better than nothing...

Heartliest to everyone following this thread! /Gunnar
