Is there a "normal" hotel in Cap Cana

Hello everyone. I'll be going to Cap Cana to visit Cap Cana Heritage School with my 11-year-old son the first week of April. Is there such a thing as a "regular" hotel, rather than a resort in the area? I'm looking for a quaint small hotel with a pool and cable tv. If this sounds like a silly request, it's because I've never been there, have just seen the resorts on the internet, impossible to actually get a direct phone number. Thanks for any help.

I think I would ask how the people there think of that school. My daughter in law did not like it, and she had her two boys there...

As for your question: No there isn't...

Wow! The school looks and sounds so nice on paper. Does anyone else know anything about it?

The only hotel in Cap Cana is the Sanctuary. It's not a resort, but it isn't small. Its neo-Andaluz style could be described as quaint and it has a pool and cable, but money must really be no object. ;)

In wider Punta Cana/B?varo area there is nothing much in the way of hotels like the one you describe. The choice is between the resorts along the coast and low-budget dives, mainly in Ver?n. A couple of mid-range places have been recommended by members of these forums, like Cappuccino Mare, but this is about 30 kms up the coast from Cap Cana. There was also a recommendation recently for a mid/low range place in Cabeza de Toro, which is nearer, but still not Cap Cana by any stretch.

Try Hotel Flamboyan 809-552-0372 in Bavaro, which is directly across from Bavaro Princess & Casino. Excellant rooms (ask for the balcony rms.), breakfast incl. and air / hot water. Sorry no pool, priced at $35-$40 pn, and very short ride from Cap Cana.

Hope it all works out for you. If H.F. is your choice we may RUM into each other as several of us will be there at the end of March for the Cap Cana Championship.

Bermudarum,

I'd love to hear a report on your trip to Cap Cana. I visited last year, and am thinking about going back. Sounds like there have been a lot of changes, with new owners and all inclusive packages at Golden Bear and Secrets Sanctuary. I hope they are changes for the better - it's such a beautiful property that it would be a shame if they don't make it.

I'm looking forward to visiting Cap Cana. I'll write all about it afterwards. I'm also looking forward to visiting the Cap Cana Heritage School, it sounds great.
